Avengers POV:

On the flight back home Thor still holding y/n close to him. Tony finally broke the silence.

"You knew?" Tony says, his voice sharp with accusation, "and you didn't think it was worth mentioning?"

Steve's jaw clenches, his fists tightening at his sides. "I made a judgment call," he replies, his tone defensive. "I thought I was protecting her."

"Protecting her?" Tony scoffs. "By lying to her? By denying her the truth?"

Bucky's gaze flickers between them, his expression a mix of anger and disbelief. "I can't believe this," he mutters, his voice barely restrained. "You really kept this from her, from me, and now..."

"Now she's paying the price," Tony finishes, his voice laced with bitterness. "Thanks to your lies."

Steve's nostrils flare, his own frustration rising to meet Tony's. "I did what I thought was best in the moment," he argues, his tone tinged with desperation.

"Oh but it wasn't a moment. It's been year Rodgers. More than a year since Barnes showed up which is when you found out but you kept it from her. You lied to them, you lied to all of us!" Tony says raising his voice.

"I thought I was keeping them safe!" Steve shoots back.

"And look where that got us," Tony retorts, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Now she's over there, her anger and grief is consuming her and it's all because you couldn't be bothered to tell her the truth about her own fucking brother!"

Bucky takes a step forward, his fists clenched at his sides. "You had no right to make that decision for her, for us." he says, his voice low and dangerous. "No right at all."

Steve meets Bucky's gaze, the weight of his deception heavy on his shoulders. "I know," he admits, his voice barely above a whisper. "And I'll have to live with that."

Tony shakes his head in disgust, his frustration reaching its boiling point. "Well, you can live with it after we find a way to fix this mess," he says, his tone final. "But don't expect me to forget about this any time soon."

They land and head inside Tony taking y/n from Thor and taking her downstairs. He placed her in a confinement space. They needed as much space between them as possible.

"Are you guys going to explain to me why you got my best friend locked up like an criminal?" Natasha's voice sliced through the room like a blade, her anger palpable as she fixed her gaze on Tony, who stood near the footage of the high-security cell where y/n was confined.

"Rogers over here has a lot of explaining to do," Tony retorted, his frustration evident as he gestured towards Steve.

Bucky's voice trembled with emotion as tears streamed down his face. "Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you tell me that I killed her brother?" he demanded, his hands shaking as he grabbed Steve by the collar and pushed him against the wall.

"Okay, Barnes, back up," Sam intervened as he stepped between Bucky and Steve, urging Bucky to release his grip.

But Bucky was beyond wanting to reason, his emotions spiraling out of control. "You know you're supposed to be the best of us," he shouted, his voice dripping with bitterness as he addressed Steve. "You promised her something like this would never happen. You promised her! Those are words you said!!"

Thor approached Steve and Tony, his expression a mixture of disappointment and anger. "You know what you did is vile, it's disgusting, worst part is she trusted you, she told me how much you meant to her how supportive you are, how trustworthy. Was it all a game for you?" he said, his voice heavy with reproach. "You failed her."
