Grayson narrowly avoided the Priestess' Aura, his insane reaction speed held back by the heavy golden liquid that coated his body. He drew his gun, barely holding it up as he fired at the figure that strolled nonchalantly toward him. He blew the head off of the creature, all too aware of the splatters of gold that coated his skin like varnish, sticky like syrup. Another figure clambered from the golden dome, and it became noticeable that with every figure spawned, the size of the prison decreased, getting ever closer to suffocating Grayson and Shaine,
"Can we try break out from underneath?" Shaine asked,
"If these figures ever lay off for a few minutes, I'll give it a shot," Helmut murmured, as a drop of Aura slipped into his open mouth, clinging to his tongue like a callous,
Grayson's mind raced, idea after idea spawning as he danced around the dome, avoiding the beings made of Aura that now numbered twelve. One of them grabbed Grayson from behind, and he could feel the weight of a person melding itself to his back. Now it was extremely difficult to even stand, and the man had no chance of getting away from the other eleven. Wraith had flown to the top of the dome, a smart move. Nothing would be able to get at her while she was airborne. She began to charge a blast of shadow, but before Grayson could warn her, the energy collided with the ceiling of the dome. Droplets sprayed absolutely everywhere, but the abyssal wings took the brunt of the blow, the added weight causing Shaine to fall to the ground,
"Quickly!" Grayson shouted, "get up!"
But it was too late. One of the figures landed on Misfortune, melting into the ground and trapping her there, pinned against the weight of the aura. The rest began to pile on, creating a gigantic mass, crushing her under its weight. Grayson did not have any idea on how to escape. He had no grand plans to save himself, but before he could truly give up, truly accept his fate, the Aura disappeared, like cotton candy in a tall glass of water,
"Niamh!" Grayson exclaimed, "are you alright?"
She stood with little issue, bewilderment showing above any other emotion,
"What the hell just happened?"
Samantha's blood boiled with frustration. Kinetic had brought Jones to her, just as requested, even using the cloned robots he had also requested. That did not, however, mean that it was a good idea for him to interrupt her meditation. Soundlessly, Samantha rose, turning her back to Johnathan, before slapping Jones across the face, the crack echoing through the pharmacy,
"Why did you leave?" She demanded,
"I was kidnapped,"
Crack!
"Why did you leave?" She repeated,
"I was scared," A small quaver was in Jones' voice now,
Crack!
"Why were you scared?" She demanded, her voice icy,
"I..." Jones fought the urge to look over at Kinetic, "I didn't think that I could beat Noctum, my power isn't enough to help me fight him,"
"Why wouldn't you just say that?" Samantha asked, "I could enhance your power further, although it would hurt a lot,"
Before Jones could make a move, she had placed a hand on his chest, golden aura flowing into his body. He could feel himself changing, as if all of his organs were squirming, tensing and un-tensing as he held back a scream. Samantha gestured for Kinetic to go, but he looked back for a moment, jealous of the power Jones was going to receive. As he strode from the chemistry, he heard the police sirens in the distance,
