"Good work, you three," Mikhail said as they approached. He looked at Jill with a smile. "Your reputation is well deserved. Now, get inside. The subway is about to leave."

Carlos walked to a nearby bench to grab more gear.

"Carlos, Tyrell, you have your orders. Head back to the city to find Nathaniel Bard," Mikhail said.

"You're not coming with us?" James questioned.

"There are new orders," Carlos responded.

"So you're just gonna stay in this hellhole?" James questioned further.

"If it means I can help save the city, it's fine by me," Carlos said proudly.

James paused for a second before letting out a sigh. He extended his hand for a handshake. "Stay safe out there, man."

Carlos returned the handshake. "You too."

Jill approached them with her arms crossed. "I know we didn't really get off on the right foot, but... Thanks for saving us."

"It was no problem. I promise I won't die on you and leave you both in a cold, cruel, Carlos-less world."

"Okay," Jill said as she rolled her eyes.

James and Jill stepped onto the train and took their seats. James sat across from Jill as the subway took off.

James couldn't help but admire Jill as she peacefully looked out the window. He was completely smitten with Jill, unable to take his eyes off her. Her hair was tangled and matted with dirt and blood, her clothes were torn and damaged, and her face was covered in dirt, yet James couldn't help but think she looked absolutely beautiful. He couldn't take his eyes off Jill's peaceful, serene expression. He felt his heart fluttering in his chest, overcome with emotion and love for this strong, determined woman.

"Hell of a night, huh?" James said, trying to break the silence.

Jill sighed. "I've definitely had better evenings."

"What are you gonna do once we're safe?"

Jill turned back towards James and leaned towards him. "I'd like to get at least a little bit of sleep. All this running around is kinda getting old. What about you?"

"I'm definitely hitting the bar again. Those were such simpler times," James chuckled.

Jill smiled. "That, I'll happily join you in."

Her smile was enough to melt James's heart. He started blushing pretty bad.

The train took off, and James looked at Carlos through the window as he sped away. "Hope he'll be okay."

"Yeah, me too. I hope everyone we left behind will be okay," Jill said with sadness in her tone.

After a while, Jill began to feel sleepy. She rested her head on James's shoulder and closed her eyes, drifting off into a peaceful slumber. That was until a loud crash that shifted the whole train woke her up immediately. James sat up quickly, followed moments later by Jill.

The door to the next train car over opened, and standing there was Nemesis. The whole car was destroyed and engulfed in flames. Nemesis was standing over dozens of dead bodies. He had killed all the innocent civilians just trying to get out.

Feeling enraged, Jill ran at the creature. "HOW IS THIS FUCKER NOT DEAD YET?!"

James grabbed her. "There's nothing we can do now. We gotta get off this thing."

Mikhail fired a few shots at Nemesis as James and Jill ran towards the exit. As they got to it, they saw it was locked. Nikolai was standing on the other side with a smirk.

"What are you doing?!" Jill asked.

"It's not after me," Nikolai said, keeping his smirk. He flashed the key at them before running off.

"GODDAMMIT!" James shouted as he took out his gun and fired a few useless rounds, they had no effect. Nemesis quickly grabbed Mikhail with one of his tentacles and pulled him towards him, holding him hostage. With the other hand, he sent another tentacle towards Jill and impaled it into her shoulder, causing her to scream in pain and drop to the ground in agony.

James watched in horror as Jill started convulsing on the floor, her veins becoming a strange green color. Her whole body started shaking uncontrollably, and her eyes rolled up into the back of her head as she began to shiver and tremble.

Mikhail decided he was not going down without a fight. "Get off my train, shitbird!" he shouted after pushing the button on a detonator, setting off a massive explosion. The entire train car immediately exploded, sending flames and shrapnel flying in every direction as the whole area became a scene of complete destruction.
