Chapter 5: Building the Car and the Family Dinner

With John

John was driving a tow truck backwards towards Dom's garage.

Once he stopped and got out.

Dom and his crew had walked over and Dom asked, "All right, what the hell is this? What do you got there?"

John smiles and points at the car and says "This is your car."

Dom asks "My car?"

Jesse then smacks the car and Dom said, "I said, a 10-second car, not a 10 minute car."

Jesse looks at John and says "You could push this across the finish line, or tow it."

Letty then laughs at that as she looks at them.

Dom said, "Couldn't even tow that across the finish line."

John says "No faith."

Dom says "No, I have faith in you, but this isn't a junkyard, this is a garage."

John looks at Jesse and say "Hey, pop the hood."

Dom asks "Pop the hood?"

John said, "Pop the hood."

Jesse opened the hood and pulled it off since it wasn't hooked onto anything.

Jesse said, "2JZ engine. No shit."

John asks "Man, what did I tell you?"

Dom says "I retract my previous statement."

Jesse said, "You know what? This will decimate all after you put about $15,000 in it, or more if we have to overnight parts from Japan."

Dom said, "We'll put it on my tab at Harry's."

Jesse shouts "Yes!"

Dom looks at John and says "I gotta get you racing again so I can make some money off your ass. There's this showdown in the desert called Race Wars and that's where you'll do it. I'll tell you what. When you're not working at Harry's, your working here. And if you can't the right tool in this garage, Mr. Texas. You don't bong near a car."

John leans against the car and Mia walks up and said, "He owns you now."

Then she walked away and John looks back as he watches her walk away.

Later

After getting some parts for the Supra, Jesse had brought in John to look at a 3D model made of the car.

Jesse says "Tell me what you think about this. Koni adjustables. They'll save us about two pounds. And they're gonna give us better traction for the hole shot. All right?" as he showing different models he made.

Then he changed to a different side to see the insides of the cars.

Jesse said, "Okay, so this is your basic layout of the car, and that's pretty much what it could look like when it's finished." as he shows slideshows of different angles of the car.

Jesse says "Red, green." as he smokes a cigarette.

John looks at Jesse and says "Man, you should be going to MIT or something."

Jesse smiles and says "Yeah, right. No, I got that... What's it called? That attention disorder..."

John asked, "ADD?"

Jesse said, "Yes, that shit. Yeah. You know, I was good in algebra, and like, math and shit. Everything else I failed. Dropped out of school. I don't know. There's just something about engines that calms me down, you know."
