36: Bonus!

August 4th, 1985

One Month After the Fire at Starcourt Mall

Max and Y/n were now going to Mike's house to tell him– and maybe Nancy –about their relationship. Nancy wasn't really a party member, but she was often around when the party hung out, so in Y/n and Max's book, she should get to know. Plus, the couple were pretty sure she'd be accepting of them, anyways.

"Alright," Y/n looked at her girlfriend as they stood outside of Mike's front door. "Ready?"

Max nodded before Y/n reached up and knocked. After a few seconds, Mrs. Wheeler opened the door for the two, smiling once she saw that it was them. "Hi, girls! Are you here for Mike?"

"Oh, yeah, we just wanted to tell him something," Max explained.

"Okay, well, you can come on in, Mike's upstairs," Mrs. Wheeler told them, opening the door more so they could enter. "Thanks, Mrs. Wheeler," Y/n smiled as she stepped inside.

"Actually," Y/n turned. "Could we talk to Nancy?" Y/n asked. "If she's home."

"Oh, sure! She's just in her room."

"Okay, thank you."

Once the girls walked far enough away from Mrs. Wheeler, Max spoke in a whisper as they made their way up the stairs. "What are you doing?"

"I think it'd be easier to tell Nance first, right? I feel like she'd actually be happy about it."

Max shrugged, nodding, and by now, the two were upstairs.

"Okay, this should be easy," Y/n said as her and Max made it outside of Nancy's room door. Max nodded before knocking on the eldest Wheeler's room door.

After a moment, the door opened and Nancy– who was confused, but welcoming nonetheless –allowed them into her room.

Y/n started to fiddle with her hands, not really sure how to start.

Damn, we should really make a script for this.

"Uh, so... Me and Max..."

"We're dating," Max said bluntly, stopping her girlfriend before she became a mess of even more stammers and pauses.

"Oh, that's great!" Nancy smiled.

"Really?" Y/n asked the girl.

"Yes, that's amazing! I'm happy for you guys, you're adorable together," she said, making the couple's faces slightly heat up as they glanced at each other.

Y/n grinned a bit and looked away from her hands to switch her gaze up to Nancy. "Thanks, Nance. But... There's one more thing..." She looked at Max, prompting the redhead to continue for her.

After Max got the memo, she spoke. "We haven't told Mike." She glanced at Y/n before continuing. "We want to, we're just not really sure how."

"Well, one, Mike's an asshole, so ignore however he reacts, two, I say just tell him." Nancy shrugged while saying the last five words.

Max looked to Y/n and shrugged, and Y/n looked back before returning her eyes to Nancy. "Alright. Well, thanks Nance," Y/n smiled.

"Yeah, of course. If you wanna talk about anything else, I'm right here."

The couple smiled at Nancy before leaving her room and making their way to Mike's room. They just glanced at each other before Y/n knocked on Mike's door. "Mike?" She called.

The fact that Y/n and Max were there confused Mike, but regardless, he made his way over to the door and opened it for the two. "Hey," Mike greeted awkwardly. "Everything okay?"

Y/n glanced at Max for a split second. "Uh, yeah, we just wanted to tell you something. Can we... Come in?"

Mike let the girls in and they sat on his bed. "Okay, so," Y/n started. "We already told Will and El, and we just told Nancy."

"Okay..."

"Uh, Max and I are dating. Like, girlfriends."

"Oh. Uh... O– okay, yeah, tha– that's– that's cool, is uh, is that it?"

Y/n wasn't very surprised. She expected him to be awkward about it, but she kind of thought he'd say more.

Max shared an opinion with Y/n on this. "'Okay'?"

"Yeah, that's– that's nice, good for you guys."

"Uh–" Y/n wasn't upset with the reaction, she'd take it. "Okay, uh, yeah, that's all."

"Alright," Mike nodded before leaving them in an awkward silence.

Max and Y/n looked at each other with confused expressions before Y/n spoke. "Okay, well, uh, we just wanted to tell you, so... We're gonna... Go now."

Mike awkwardly nodded again. "Alright. Okay, yeah, yeah. See you guys later."

"See ya'," Y/n said slowly, confused as she left Mike's room with her girlfriend. "Well, that didn't go badly," she said as she closed Mike's room door.

Max shrugged. "I'll take it."

Y/n nodded, and the two left the Wheeler's.

i didn't have a date on my last bonus chapter, but this one and the previous bonus chapter take place in the same day, and so will the next bonus chapter.

so, yeah, two more chapters and i'll start season 4!!!
