Forty-three: Brainstorming Phase

"Who's Vecna?" Steve asked, voicing everyone's thoughts.

Dustin's gaze didn't move as he explained. "An undead creature of great power."

"A spell caster," Eddie added.

"A dark wizard."

!!!

The group opened the door to the boathouse Eddie was in, bringing food for the boy. They walked in on a very startled Eddie.

"Jesus!"

"Sorry," Y/n quietly apologized. Eddie looked at them, calming down from his panic. Dustin held up the grocery bags with a smile on his face. "Delivery service!"

"So we got, uh, some good news and some bad news," Dustin started as Eddie dug in to a handful of cereal. "How do you prefer it?"

"Bad news first, always," Eddie said through a full mouth before taking a swig of Yoo-hoo.

"Alright. Bad news. We tapped into the Hawkins PD dispatch with our Cerebro, and they're definitely looking for you," Dustin informed the older boy. "Also, they're, uh, pretty convinced you killed Chrissy," he added before Max spoke. "Like, 100% kind of convinced."

"And the good news?" Eddie asked, looking to Dustin hopefully.

"Your name hasn't gone public yet," Robin told him. "But if we found out about you, it's only a matter of time before others do, too, and once that gets out, everyone And their shallow-minded mother is gonna be gunning for you."

"Way to turn the good news bad," Y/n spoke up from beside Max.

"Hunt the freak, right?" Eddie asked.

"Exactly."

"Shit."

"So, before that happens," Dustin started. "We find Vecna, kill him, and prove your innocence."

"That's all, Dustin? That's all?" Eddie asked sarcastically with a small tilt of his head.

Dustin, as usual, didn't grasp the sarcasm in his question. "Yeah, no, that- that's pretty much it."

"Listen, Eddie," Robin spoke. "I know every Dustin is saying sounds totally delusional," she moved her hand in a circle to emphasize her words. "But, we've actually been through this kinda thing before. I mean, they have, a- a- a few times, and... and I have once," the girl stammered with some of her words. "Mine was more human-flesh-based, and theirs was more smoke-related, but-"

"And the first one was more super-power, alternate-dimension, face-to-face with the monster, you know, a little bit of everything," Y/n explained.

"Bottom line is, collectively, I really feel like we got this," Robin smiled.

"Yeah, so, like Y/n was saying, we usually rely on this girl who has superpowers, but, uh, those went bye-bye," Steve elaborated on Y/n's words and Dustin nodded.

"She's not a tool, dude," Y/n furrowed her eyebrows.

"I'm not saying she's a tool, man, I'm just explaining-"
