Claire closed the door behind her as she returned to the control room to activate the machine. She programmed the computer to send the relic back, almost twelve thousand years into the past.
Dáithi walked into the machine's containment module as he held the trident by his chest so that everything might fit inside. Claire glances with teary eyes at the young boy that had become entangled with the past.
Now, he stands within his regalement, proudly holding the symbol of Atla in his hand -- his body glimmering in the golden armor that he had received from his sister, Squamae. And though she knew that she could never prove the existence of Atlantis -- she personally knew for herself that the mythical island was real: Dáithi was no longer of this world, but of Alta.
The young boy bravely smiles as the earth began to tremor once more. A part of him was ready to go back and face the enviable, whereas another part of him dreaded it.
Tears roll down Claire's eyes as she powers up the pendant still attached to his wrist as it phases, connecting him back to Alta: opening the doorway back to the ancient city. She checked to make certain that the forcefield was in place as she activated the machine.
"David!" Claire calls out to him as he looks up at her with his now glowing blue eyes. She cannot even be certain that he even understands her language now. "I am truly sorry that Dr. Lowes had trapped you inside that machine. And I am deeply sorry for any harm that I have caused you. Please find it in your heart to forgive me."
Claire looked at the confused, blank facial expression on his face as it was clear that he did not understand her language any longer, and this only causes the tears to flow even faster. Dáithi wanted to comfort her so badly, but knows better than to challenge the forcefield which holds back the destructive forces of the portal.
He places a hand over his heart as he smiles, tears forming in his iridescent eyes.
Claire gently smiles, hoping that a friendly smile might help to bridge the language barrier. She hovers her finger over the large button for just a moment as the control room begins to shake with an approaching quake, she then presses it.
Dáithi just stood there bravely as he was reduced to conscious energy, and like before, was pulled through the singularity and back into the slipstream between dimensions. Once the singularity closes, automatically, the quakes all ceased and an eerie stillness fell all over the smoking ruins of the city of Seattle.
Thanks to Claire's swift thinking, she saved Seattle and much of the west coast of the United States from slipping into the ocean.
