"I know Guardians are only given to those who are an adult."   I answered Levi's question slowly as I think back to everything I did learn and remember.    "A Guardian's mate is chosen when the Gods and Godesses come to a majority vote. If a creature is struggling to be on their own they are given parental figures, Guardians. The relationship between the marked lasts for at least 10 years, giving Guardians plenty of time to get their mates back on their feet. After 10 years, the relationship can become permanent if all sides accept the former Guardian as an actual parent. Except littles, they aren't given a choice. "

My caregiver goes to say something but a knock on the front door interrupts him. "Ah, perfect timing. My Dad brought Ember over so she can help explain being a little from her perspective. "

I groaned flopped my face into the new bed pillow. "You didn't tell me I'd have to people today! It is very polite to give an introvert a heads up," I mumble into the pillow.

Suddenly a pair of fingers began tickling my sides, causing me to squeal.

"I'm sorry what was that?" he asked while continuing his attack. "I'm not quite fluent in pillow."

I couldn't respond back because I was to busy giggling. Unfortunately my wings did all the talking by involuntarily popping out and ripping the shirt on my back. "Awe, you made me wing." I half heartedly whined while rolling off the bed to inspect my back. "Honestly the shirt rips make me look a little bad ass."

"Language," Levi scolded with a firm swat to my rear. "That's your last warning for the day. Come let's go finish our conversation with help. I'll explain things from my side as your Papa first and then they can add anything they think I missed."

"Fine, but I got dibs on the couch. My wings need breathing room." I state before making a beeline to the said furniture. I stopped right at the stairs though because someone decided to Shailyn proof it. I huff and give my guardian the stink eye. "Rude."

He just chuckles and picks me up. "It keeps you from breaking your rules, and I don't have to worry about you falling down the stairs. Or even up the stairs if you have that special talent."

I fake gasp as we get to the bottom of the stairs and to the door. "I am the most gracefulest fairy you ever did see."

"I-is gracefulest even a word?"

"If not then it is now." Came my reply as he opened the door. On the other side, Ember was bouncing excitedly while King Viktor was trying to calm her down.

The only thing that got her to stop bouncing was the sight of my wings. "No way." she whispers with a shocked look on her face.

"How long have you known her wings were black Levi?" Viktor asked. (Picture of Shailyn in full fairy form is in the chapter photo. Her wings are the same in human form. Photo was brought to you by Google.)

"Just a couple minutes ago. I was tickling her and they popped out. We are gonna need to let the council know," his son replies while I'm sitting here confused to all hell now.

"What's wrong with my wings? I quite like them?" I ask, getting a tad bit offended.

"Your wings are beautiful minx, they just also come with a lot of power. We'll give you a short explanation but the higher ups will need to teach the rest." Levi answered with a sigh.

"Why can't you explain all of it now?"

"Because your fairy type is rare and not much is known about them. The only ones who could teach you everything you know is other shadow fairies. Let's get comfy for all this, there is a lot we need to discuss."
