Shailyn's Pov:
I woke up from my nap with a stretch and found myself strapped inside a shopping cart. I whined and tried to free myself from the contraption but a large hand directed mine away from the buckles. "No little minx. That's to keep you safe." Papa said.
This upset me for some reason and tears started to form in my eyes. Why would I be in danger? How would these straps keep me more safe than Papa? I just wanna...wait is that a bear toy making noise? I looked up to see Papa's friend holding a toy out to me. He shook it a couple more times, causing it to make fun sounds. I giggled and tried to reach for it.
"Maybe we should take the price tag off so she can't chew on it?" Papa suggest. "we can grab another one that way we can scan it when we get to the registers."
The other man nodded before pulling off the tag and placing the toy into my eager hands. My tears and worries were long forgotten as I sat back in content with my new bear. It was a small toy that could easily be held in one hand and each time I shook it, something inside it jingled. I'mma name him Java because any name that relates to caffeine is a good name.
"Well that worked surprisingly well." Papa said while raising an eyebrow at his friend. "Since when did you become a caregiver?"
He smirked and gave a shrug. "You're my best friend. If you're going to be a little magnet, I'mma have to learn a few things myself."
"I would have preferred any other term besides 'little magnet'. And I only know two of em."
"And now your trouble maker will need playdates, daycares, park trips and much more...which will involve a lot of littles. Someone's gotta keep you from being to overprotective."
Papa threw his head back and groaned. "You mean I have to socialize?"
"Yup, and who knows, maybe you'll find your other mate by doing so."
"ate?" I asked curiously. He hasn't met his other half yet? I would have thought that Prince would have no problem finding his.
"You're too young to be thinking about mates right now." Papa says before booping my nose and changing the topic. "Would you like to pick out a blanky?"
"Overprotective already," Quinn comments with another smirk. "I should have bet money on it."
"Ignore Uncle Quinn over there. He's just jealous that he doesn't get to pick out blankets," Papa says while picking me up.
I'm faced towards a wide selection of blankets and I just stare in awe. How the heck am I supposed to pick one? Hmmm, wonder if they have a....oh look a oujia board one! "Der!" I tell them while pointing to that one with excitement.
Papa palmed himself in the forehead before getting the blanket I picked out. "Great, she's already wanting to summon demons at a one year old headspace. I don't know whether to be worried or proud."
"Could always be both," Quinn tells him with a shrug.
I hugged the new blanket and rattle close to my chest as we made our way to the next aisle. This one had pacifiers, clips, bottles, and sippy cups. Papa let me pick those out too and I was quite pleased with the dark theme I had going on.
"Might need to redecorate your room," Papa sighs while noticing the pattern.
I giggle and started chewing on my new blanket. The happy mood didn't last long though because the cart stopped in front of car seats next. I looked at my caregiver with a pout.
"Don't give me that look little minx. It's for your safety."
"Nuuu," I whined as he lifted me out of the cart. My feet started to kick as I tried to wiggle away.
"Shailyn just try it for me sweetheart. I promise they aren't that bad. Look, this one even has bats!"
My wiggling stopped as the bats were pointed out. That one did look cute and comfy. I was slowly lowered into the seat and Papa took a step back to see if I liked it. I gave a huff of annoyance but relaxed into the seat. At least it was as comfy as it looked.
"I think it's probably the best reaction we are going to get. I'll carry it to the front." Uncle Quinn responds as I'm placed back in the shopping cart.
"I'll meet you up there shortly. Just gotta grab more protection and then hit the school supply aisle."
I got back to chewing my blanket as the cart was pushed over to the diapers. We had stopped in front a pack of skull ones when Papa started sniffing the air. He looked over to where the pull ups were and saw another male griffin holding his little's hand. This griffen was slender and a bit shorter than Levi. His long blond hair was pulled back in a ponytail. I turned my head and watched as the other fairy little suddenly pull away from his caregiver to grab his wrist and wimper.
"Papa?" I ask in confusion as the long haird griffen checks his boy's wrist before looking over at us.
"Mates," He answers me with a grin as they begin to walk over. "And in your case, Guardians."
"Well this is an interesting turn of events." The mystery mate says while holding his hand out to Papa. "I'm Erik and this is Axel."
"I'm Levi, and this is Shailyn." he introduces before shaking hands. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
I look over and stare at Axel for a little bit before tilting head. "Fae?" I ask.
He nods. "Mischief." he answers which causes me to giggle. Faes of mischief were always either pets or littles and they tend to be a handful.
"Papa," I inform him while pointing up at my caregiver.
"Momma, " he answers back while pointing to his. "You're super little right now?"
"She is indeed. It's her first day in headspace so she's one right now." Papa responds for me as I settle back down and yawn. "I should get this shopping done so she can rest. Would you like to exchange phone numbers so we can set up a day to get to know each other?"
Erik nods and they trade phones for a couple minutes before departing ways. Papa quickly picked up a couple packs of the skull diapers before leaving the area to get school supplies.
"Well things are moving rather quickly as of late aren't they?" He mutters while grabbing colored blocks.
I nod in agreement before yawning once more. "Nini?" I ask him.
"Yeah, I think we got most of what we needed. Let's get you settled in for a nap."
I hum happily as we make our way to the front of the store. Uncle Quinn was waiting for us near the self checkouts. I waved to him as we got closer.
"Took yall long enough, " he says to Papa with a raised eyebrow.
"Ates!" I inform him while rubbing my eyes.
"The castle may or may not have a third little running around it soon."
Quinn snorts and shakes his head. "Should have seen that one coming."
"At least there will be another caregiver around too. Would Collin be willing to arrange a mating ceremony?" Papa asks.
"He's always up for planning events. I'll let him know tonight when he's off work."
I watched them talk as they scanned until my eyelids started to grow heavy. I don't know why I'm so sleepy lately but, another nap couldn't hurt.
