ARDEN INES
I walk to my third class of the day. My nerves are going crazy. I have this class with Colton Lancaster. He was absent yesterday, but the teacher called his name. I'm not sure why, everyone knows who he is.
I mean we go to Lancaster Academy for crying out loud.
I don't know why I'm nervous. He probably won't even remember me.
Last night was so embarrassing. It could have been anyone.
I get to the classroom and blow out a breath before walking in.
I look around and see that he isn't here. Again.
I wait a couple minutes and he still doesn't show up. Finally, the bell rings. And I sigh in relief.
Class starts and the teacher starts talking about math. But sadly, when there's a knock on the door my body instantly covers in a cold sweat.
The teacher walks to the door and opens it. "Mr. Lancaster, you're late." the teacher says.
"I know." he says. He hasn't noticed me yet and I have never been gladder to be invisible.
"You can't just show up late to class. You were absent yesterday-" she says but he cuts her off.
"If it's such a big deal I can talk to my father about it." he says making eye contact with her.
"Now, I don't think that's necessary." he smirks when he isn't facing the teacher and sadly I'm not as invisible as I thought because he looks right at me and grins.
I can feel my face heat and I know I look like a tomato. Then he winks at me.
He literally winks.
God kill me now.
He remembers me.
As class goes by slower than any other, I feel his eyes on me. The. entire. class!
For some reason it enrages me. It took me almost being sexually assaulted for him to notice me.
Truth is, I have had a crush on Colton Lancaster since elementary school. But that also means we've been around each other for almost my entire life and he still didn't know who I was.
I hate him for it. What makes him so much better than us?
If you take away the Lancaster part, he's just like the rest of us.
My thoughts are interrupted by the bell. I have lunch. Which also means Colton is in my lunch as well.
I pack my stuff and almost make it out the door, but he stops me, and I internally screamed.
"Hey, wait." Colton says and I look around to make sure he is talking to me. He is, in fact, talking to me.
"Walk with me to lunch." He says without hardly glancing at me as he walks out the door. I blow out a breath and walk toward his side.
"Not trying to be mean but how come I didn't know who you were before yesterday?" he asks glancing at me, but I don't look at him.
"I don't know. We've gone to school together since kindergarten and we've talked multiple times." I told him matter-of-factly. He chuckles and my stomach flips at the sound.
"You must have not been as pretty as you are now..." he says with a flirty tone.
Don't fall for it.
Don't fall for it.
DON'T FALL FOR IT!!
"Is there something you want? You never talk to me so what do you want?" I say, pleased at the coldness in my tone.
But my tone doesn't faze him he actually seems to like that I'm not falling to his feet. I won't.
"I just feel like our first conversation should have been under better terms." he tells me. I roll my eyes.
"Again, Colton, not our first conversation." he gives me a lazy grin that has my heart skipping a beat.
"I'm having a party tonight. You should come." he says.
"Why?" I face him.
"So, I can hear you say my name again." he says then walks into the lunchroom.
I take a few deep breaths before walking into the lunchroom.
