ARDEN INES
Colton didn't show up to school for another week.
It's been two weeks since I last saw him.
Two weeks since we last spoke.
He read my message on Friday.
He didn't reply.
But on Monday I watch him walk into school with another girl.
I watch him walk into school with Paige Ambrose.
She transferred here last week.
The mayor's daughter. She was homeschooled.
"Hey baby!" Sara says to me as she walks into school.
"Hey." I smile but it's fake.
She narrows her eyes but doesn't say anything. And for that I'm grateful.
"We should get to class. It's almost eight." she tells me and puts her arm over my shoulder and pulls me in the direction of class.
She drops me off at my classroom and waves bye. I walk in and take my seat.
Olivia and Tatum still haven't spoken. There drama is stupid.
I think if Tatum and Luke want to be together, they should be.
Olivia will be upset but Olivia and Luke's relationship is different than Tatum and Luke's.
Adrien's pissed at Colton. He thinks that he should have been back a week ago.
I don't have it in me to tell him that I don't think Colton would willingly choose to stay at his house.
"Arden!"
I glance up when my names yelled at me.
"What?" I ask.
"You need to be paying attention! I asked if you could answer the question on the board." my teacher scolds me.
"Right sorry."

Colton's making out with Paige in front of everyone. He doesn't care who's watching.
He doesn't care who he's hurting.
I just wish he'd talk to me.
I close my locker and sigh walking in the opposite direction of Colton.
I'm debating on skipping math.
I can't bare being in the same room as him.
I decide not to. I won't let him win.
Plus, we have lunch together too so.
I walk into math and take my seat.
I don't look at the door, but I can tell when he walks in.
I side eye him watching him walk into the room.
He doesn't glance at me once.
The whole class I can't feel his gaze like I normally can.
And when class ends, he walks straight out without a second glance.
I don't know why I expected more. Why I thought he really liked me.
I walk to lunch slowly knowing I'm going to have to walk past his table.
Once I get to the lunchroom, I build up the courage to walk inside. Sadly, he's not sitting where he normally sits. Usually when he's facing me at lunch but not, he's facing me when I enter.
I can't help the glance I steel of him.
Him and Paige.
He's sitting on the table with Paige in his lap.
Apparently, I star to long for her liking because she decides to open her mouth.
"Eww! Stop staring at us you freak!" She laughs and most of the table does too.
Not Colton. He won't even look at me.
I stop walking and look at him.
Why won't he say something?
"You got something to say?" Paige asks, smirking.
"You're not going to say anything really?" I ask, but it's directed to him.
At this point everyone's looking at us and the cafeteria is quiet. Watching.
He looks at me the same way his mom looked at me before he says, "Why are you talking to me?"
Filth.
I'm the dirt under his shoe.
"You can't be serious. This isn't you. Why are you acting like this?" I ask him my brows coming together.
He just chuckles when Paige says, "Honey you were just a distraction. He doesn't want you so stop embarrassing yourself and run along."
I don't care what she says.
This is not the Colton at the diner.
This is not the Colton who told me about his brother. The Colton who told me that I don't see myself the way he does.
"You don't honestly think that I liked you, right" he eyes me up and down. "I never actually cared about you. You don't mean anything to me."
I stare into his eyes then nod and walk away.
But for the first time today I felt his eyes on me.
