ARDEN INES
Sara, Olivia, Tatum, Jack, and I walk into the first row of the bleachers. We're practically on the field.
Musics blasting on the loudspeakers and were screaming to talk to each other but its fun.
I'm having fun.
"I'm getting nachos. Does anybody want anything?" Jack yells.
I shake my head.
"I want nachos too." Sara says. "Can I have a Dr. pepper?" Tatum asks.
Olivia goes with Jack to get the food and that's when I see him.
Colton.
In his uniform getting stretched on the field.
I hadn't forgot how beautiful he was. I also hadn't forgot how good it was to talk to him.
He looks up at me and my heart skips a beat. It's getting harder and harder to hide my feelings.
I miss him.
Olivia and Jack return with food and drinks.
They hand out stuff and I don't miss how their hands accidentally touch and how their eyes linger longer than normal.
Hmm.
I smile to myself.
"I got you a water anyway." Olivia says.
"Thanks." I tell her.
"And what she means is Jack got you a water anyway." Jack says. Olivia swats his chest, and he grabs her arm which makes her body get close to his. I look back and forth between them with a smirk.
I glance at Sara to find her looking at them. The same expression on her face.
I laugh and turn back around focusing my attention back on the field.
I know the games starting soon when they start announcing the players.
When it gets to my brother me and my friends cheer louder than anyone. But then it gets to him, and I don't do anything. I just stand there while everyone screams at the top of their lungs.
He seen me not cheer for him. I can't see his expression from across the field. But he is staring at me. I can feel it.
He puts his helmet on, and I can't tell where his eyes are anymore.
I feel bad. But I shouldn't.
I shake my thoughts and focus on the game as it starts.
I'm here for Adrien.
At least that's what I keep telling myself.
_________
The games been neck and neck all night.
We're facing our biggest rivals.
Greenbriar Academy.
They're good but so are we.
I can't help my eyes lingering on Colton.
He looks amazing. He's also playing great. Much better from the last time I'd seen him play.
I smile at the thought of that time. Before everything became so fucked up.
_________
There's ten seconds left on the clock and there in the lead by three. Nobody wants to lose their first game. Especially a home game against your rivals.
nine.
Colton throws the ball to the guy down the field, and he catches it.
eight.
He runs with the ball.
seven.
He runs.
Six.
Five.
Four.
Some guy comes running and he makes it past him.
Three.
Two.
"TOUCHDOWN LANCASTER ACADEMY!!!" The announcer yells. Our side of the bleachers scream.
We won.
The boys all jump on the guy who got a touchdown. Then they all walk over to their coach.
Everyone's screaming.
He looks up at me and stares.
I can't hide my smile as I beam at him. He won.
He smiles and his eyes soften.
Then he's running up here. To the bleachers.
"What?" slips out of my mouth.
"I'm sorry." he says as he grabs my waist and pulls me into him. Kissing me.
Colton Lancaster kissed me.
In front of our entire school.
I kissed him back.
