Chapter Fifteen - This doesn't change anything

As soon as Colton sent that last text, I jumped in the shower immediately. 

I was going on a date with Colton Lancaster, and I was going to look hot doing it. 

I washed my hair and scrubbed my entire body. 

I was nervous. 

I was going out with Colton Lancaster.

I quickly get out of the shower and dry my body and put my hair in a towel above my head.

I pick out an outfit and start to do my makeup. Once that's done, I take my hair down and blow-dry it. Once its dry I put a few loose curls to make it not stick straight. 

Glancing in the mirror, satisfied I walk into my room and put on my outfit.

Baggy jeans and a white off the shoulder top. 

Once I'm finished, I check my phone. Seeing the time and a text from Colton.

"I'll beat your place around 7:30." 

It's 7:23 now and I walk downstairs and wait for him to show up. 

A couple minutes later he pulls into my driveway, but I walk into a room where he can't see me through the windows. He doesn't need to know I was waiting on him. 

He knocks and I wait a few seconds before going to get the door. 

"Hey." he says with a smile holding flowers out to me. 

I take them with a smile on my own face and bring them to my nose to smell.

"Thank you. They're beautiful." I tell him. He grins at my words before replying, "Glad you like them. Are you ready?" I nod and turn to grab my wallet off the counter before following him out the door.

At the restaurant he teases me. I don't mind I like that he's paying attention to me. 

He clears his throat, and an apologetic look crosses his face. "About earlier-" but I cut him off. "Seriously don't worry about it. It's not a big deal." He shakes his head at my words. "It's not okay, Arden. I was a dick, and I shouldn't have let her talk to you like that and...it was just a dick move and I'm sorry." 

I don't care what he said all I care about is that he cares enough to apologize. He cares enough about me.

"It's okay. Really. I'm not mad." I reassure him but he doesn't look convinced. "Are you sure?" "Yes, Colton it's fine." 

He beams at me, and I realize I said his name again. Then I remember some of the first things he said to me. 

"I just feel like our first conversation should have been under better terms." he tells me. I roll my eyes. "Again Colton, not our first conversation." he gives me a lazy grin that has my heart skipping a beat. "I'm having a party tonight. You should come." he says. "Why?" I face him. "So I can hear you say my name again." he says then walks into the cafeteria. 

I smile at the memory. It felt like a lifetime ago but in reality, it was only a couple weeks. 

"Why are you so smiley all of a sudden?" he asks with a grin also on his own face.

"Nothing." I giggle. 

He just stares at me in a way that makes me feel seen. 

"I really like you." I say before I can stop myself.

His eyes soften as he says, "I really like you too."

I walk into school with a smile on my face. 

I spot Olivia and Sara standing by Sara's locker and I make my way over to them. 

"Hey!" I beam.

Sara and Olivia face me, and Olivia hugs me, and Sara gives me a sly grin.

Please keep your mouth shut.

Thankfully shoe does. "How's your day so far?" Olivia asks. 

"It's good," I smile. "What about you?" I ask her. But she gives a distant look. It disappears as fast as it appeared, but I know there's something bothering her. "It's great! What about you Sara?" Sara raises her eyebrows at Olivia but doesn't question her. Although we both since something is wrong. "It's good. You already asked me that. Four times." "Oh sorry. I'm so forgetful." She says with a dry laugh and me and Sara share a look. But something behind me catches Sara's eye and I turn to look at what it is. 

I wish I hadn't. 

Because behind me is the boy I was on a date with.

And that boy has Paige Ambrose pushed against a locker, kissing her.
