The sound of tires against tar tore through the air as a car swerved to the side trying to avoid Haseena who had not paid attention to where she was going.
"Watch out!" Karishma screamed pulling Haseena by her elbow holding Kiara with just one hand she had managed to pull Haseena out of the way of the speeding car. Kiara who was calm moments ago started crying at all the commotion. Karishma shifted she in her arms palming her little head hiding her face into her chest shushing her whilst she herself was undergoing a storm of emotions.
"Damn that was close." She exclaimed a palm on her thumping heart as she took a breather calming herself.
With eyes blazing with anger Karishma roared at her "What were you thinking, Haseena? Tum dekke chal nahi sakti thi? Dhyaan kahaan rehta hai tumhara?"
Haseena was taken aback at her reaction "I-I didn't even see the car coming hum bas keys doondh rahe te aur- Karishma I am sorry. Aap thoda shaanth ho jayiye pehle." She tried calming the storm but Karishma walked past her with a clenched jaw so Haseena sighed unlocking the car watching as a fuming Karishma buckled Kiara to the baby seat.
"I'll drive." Karishma announced, not giving any option to her and Haseena silently took the passenger seat. She had been careless yes but Karishma was shutting her out for something that wasn't entirely her fault and after being in the receiving end of Karishma's attention and love for the past few days her anger was bothering her to an extent it made her feel uncomfortable like every fibre in her body wanted for her to rekindle with Karishma as soon as possible.
She slowly inched her hand towards the gear box and interlocked her pinkie with Karishma's and she smiled in relief when the latter didn't pull her hand away.
"Aage se dhyaan rakhenge na Singh itna bhi kya gussa woh bhi itni si baat pe?" She asked in a soft voice and it seemed as if her words had the opposite effect because Karishma had pulled her hand away now. They still had to drive for ten minutes at the least and the silence in the car was deafening. Kiara had fallen asleep and the lack of her blabbers was bothering Haseena.
"Singh humse baat karo na aapka bak bak sunne ka ab aadat ho chuka hai aur ab aapke khamoshi saha nahi jaa raha hai." She requested, crossing her arms. A childish pout made it to her features when Karishma glared at her.
"I don't want to end up saying things in my anger. Aur Noor aunty ne humse kaha hai ki jab bhi hadd se jyada gussa ajaye tab humko chup rehna chahiye." Karishma looked straight ahead the door as she spoke.
"Noor aunty wow aap donon kabse itne close hogaye hai?" Haseena initiated and got nothing but silence in return.
"Kam se kam ye to poochne ka zehmat uthayengi ki humara dinn kaisa tha?" Haseena asked desperately wanting to talk about whatever happened today. This was all new to her. Managing such a huge business was hectic and exciting and the first person she thought of when she wanted to share it with was Karishma.
"Hmm Batao." Karishma mumbled, still concentrating on the road.
"Aise poochengi toh kisko hi batana hai." Haseena mumbled with a frown and turned sideways looking outside choosing silence as well. When they finally arrived at their home Karishma had taken Kiara with her wordlessly taking the little one's responsibility for that night. Haseena threw her hands in the air in frustration and decided to change before dinner. When she exited her room she could hear the sound of Karishma already stirring something in the kitchen.
"I am making pasta for the both of us." She said stirring occasionally as she scrolled through her phone, a single airpod in her left ear. Haseena frowned and sat on a dining chair. She picked her phone too not having much to do and thought of something. A mischievous smile made it to her face as she scrolled through her gallery and found what she was looking for.
