They don't swap type of Steve (Some attributes like for Assistant Steve) , they swap powers really?? I guess?? They add their own flair, like Time is Nightmare for this. They don't swap personality, they swap backstories and powers.

Nightmare(Time)
Nightmare tries to be calm and collected (like Time normally is) but he often looses his cool. His favorite hobby is chilling around (Time's is cooking)
He was created after Orange Steve was killed by the "creator" of darkness. He and his brother, Light, help Dark and Rainbow Galaxy as much as they can.
Time(Nightmare)
Being a calm and collected King (unlike Nightmare who looses his cool) didn't save him from Darkness. He wanted immunity from darkness so he could use it. But alas, he corrupted his human.
After dying to Elemental, he found himself being pulled into a place called the void, where he met Shadow. He looked like a darkness version of the human.
Genesis(Forest Steve)
Being a weirder version of the others, Genesis was the first to meet a Red Steve starting on his journey.
He steps up as leader after the forest fire and the leader died.
He does still fish but instead of with buddies it's the other Forest Steves.
