What began like a chaste kiss soon turned into a searing, burning one, starred by yielding lips and searching tongues basking on the sweet taste of one another.
Serkan could say a million things, but he couldn't bring himself to interrupt the moment they were having. He was certain the spell would break if he did, and Eda would flee. So, rather than pushing away, he wrapped his arms around Eda and pinned her against the kitchen counter. Eda's eyes opened at the change in position and bore into his. She didn't move, and neither did he. They just drew closer and closer until their bodies were pressed against each other—until Serkan's nose nuzzled Eda's hair, and her hand twined through his.
It'd been long since just closeness to someone else, to a woman, evoked such a sense of euphoria and bliss in Serkan. They were just holding each other, but the moment felt intimate and more vulnerable than anything they'd shared before. Serkan slid a finger under Eda's chin and, keeping his face angled to hers, leaned down just enough that their noses brushed together. Serkan wanted to kiss her again, but he could see in her eyes what was going through Eda's mind right now.
Should they give in to lust and ruin their friendship?
Serkan had considered it too, only what he felt was something more raw and real and undeniable, and he didn't think it'd go away by sleeping with Eda. Even if Eda figured it would be for her.
Serkan lowered his mouth to a mere fraction of an inch above hers, and he tightened his arm around her lower back. They were so close that he could hear his heartbeat and hers beating at the same dizzy rhythm.
That's when he kissed her.
He wasn't going to pretend he didn't want her.
Serkan brushed his lips against hers once, just to feel the softness of her skin grazing past his, then he pressed his mouth to hers in earnest, tasting her in the slowest, most profound possible way until Eda's knees buckled, and she made little noises in the back of her throat. Serkan kissed her until he saw static at the edge of his vision until he couldn't remember how long they'd been kissing and couldn't feel where her mouth ended and his began.
Serkan forced himself to pull away, giving Eda a chance to stop him before it was too late.
She didn't. Instead, Eda pulled at his shirt and kissed him again, with hunger, with need, sighing into his mouth as her fingers twisted the fabric under them. Eda was as far gone as Serkan was and didn't want to stop.
But she did.
They broke apart, and Eda stepped back, wrapping her arms around herself. "I'm tired. Maybe it's best if I go to bed."
Serkan nodded, and they walked back to his room together. "I can sleep with Jacob tonight. Just knowing you're here and feeling better leaves me at ease."
Eda touched Serkan's fingers to acknowledge what he was trying to do. He was trying to comfort her. She wanted so much more than his words, though. And this realization scared her to no end. Eda wanted Serkan to hold her hand in his. She wanted him to wrap his arm around her waist and pull her close.
