Eda & Serkan knew each other as children, but life drifted them apart. Once best friends, they fall back into their usual rapport when Serkan comes home. Yet, Eda isn't as transparent as she used to be. And what she keeps to herself might be more th...

Eda opened and closed her eyes, paralyzing Serkan in midair, but it was just a reflex. After a few minutes, Serkan realized that Eda hadn't truly awakened. Her breathing was even, and her features were calm. She looked so peaceful.
"The sky is gorgeous tonight," Serkan said, looking toward his telescope once he was sure Eda was sleeping. "You know, watching the stars in the city was tough due to pollution," he mentioned, playing with a strand of Eda's hair. "When I moved to London, that was probably one of the hardest things. Another was that the solitude I always had sought turned to loneliness. I never understood how much space you filled in my life until you weren't there anymore. On clear nights, I would drive out of the city and find a good place to stop to watch the stars. It made me feel closer to you."
Serkan took the strand of Eda's hair he'd been playing with to his nose and felt its flowery scent, closing his eyes. "I'd been so happy at first about the silence. No more fights. No more arguments. No more situations I'd walk into or verbal attacks I was submitted with. I thought it was glorious! Yet soon, I realized that gone were also your smile, your laughter, the comfort I found in your words, your touch, and your presence. I missed Ferit so much, too. But Ferit didn't hold me when I got bad news about my brother or talk to me on the phone until I fell asleep. He most certainly didn't play with my hair to calm me down or sing me to sleep," Serkan added with a small laugh. "The first few months away were really hard, Eda. I had to get used to the idea that nothing would ever be the same. Especially since I planned on never coming back." Serkan paused and gave a deep sigh. "It took time for me to realize that I loved you even before I knew what love was. And I don't think I've been able to love anyone else that way ever since."
Eda sighed softly and shifted on the couch, trying to get comfortable. Serkan took it as a sign that it was time to go and caressed Eda's cheek, trying to gently wake her. "Eda," he whispered softly.
"Serkan," she said, smiling a sleepy smile as she opened her eyes to see Serkan sitting at the edge of the couch next to her. "You took very long to come back," she admonished playfully.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, tapping her nose softly, trying to change the topic of the conversation. "Are you ready to go home?"
Eda shook her head. "I'm not going home tonight. I'm going to stay here with you."
Eda had to be drunk on sleep; this was the only explanation for her actions.
"Then let me take you to bed so you're more comfortable. Tamam?" Eda didn't argue; thus, Serkan picked her up gently and carried her to his room. Laying her on his bed, he added, "I'm going to give you something more comfortable to sleep in."
She nodded sleepily in response.
Serkan returned a couple of moments later with some shorts and a T-shirt. "While you change, I'll get you some water. It's almost time for your medication."
Serkan came back a few minutes later to find Eda limping out of the bathroom. He left what he'd brought on the bedstand and closed the space between them, quickly helping Eda back to bed.
