Dua

As the morning sun streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow over the room, I slowly blinked my eyes open, greeted by the sight of Travis's sleeping form beside me. A soft smile tugged at my lips as I watched him sleep, the rise and fall of his chest steady and rhythmic.

"Good morning," I murmured, reaching out to gently brush a strand of hair away from his forehead.

Travis stirred awake, his eyes fluttering open as he turned to face me, a lazy grin spreading across his face. "Morning, beautiful," he replied, his voice husky with sleep as he pulled me closer, pressing a lingering kiss to my lips.

As we lay together in the quiet moments that followed, the reality of the day ahead began to sink in. With a sigh, Travis reluctantly pulled away, his expression tinged with regret as he glanced towards the clock.

"I hate to leave you, but I've got a meeting with Coach in an hour," he said, his voice apologetic as he climbed out of bed and began to get dressed.

"It's okay, go take care of what you need to do," I replied.

Travis went into his bathroom to continue getting ready. When he returned he had an unreadable look on his face. He got back on the bed, he closed the distance between us, his hand reaching out to cup my cheek as he leaned in to press a soft kiss against my lips.

"I'll be back before you know it," he murmured against my mouth, his voice soft and reassuring as he pulled away, his gaze locked with mine.

I nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of my lips as I reached out to squeeze his hand in return. "I'll be here," I replied, my voice filled with unwavering confidence in our bond.

With one last lingering glance, Travis reluctantly tore himself away, heading out the bedroom door.

Time Skip Hour Later

I decided to explore around Travis's house. I've gone through a majority of his house already.

I walked into a room that must be his office. As I glanced around, my gaze fell upon Travis's computer sitting on the desk, the screen locked with a password.

A flicker of curiosity sparked within me as I wondered what secrets might be hidden within the digital confines of his device. With a mischievous grin, I leaned closer to the screen, my fingers hovering over the keyboard as I attempted to guess the password.

After a moment of contemplation, it suddenly struck me – Travis's unwavering loyalty to his team, the Kansas City Chiefs. With a sense of excitement, I typed in the word "Chiefs" and held my breath, waiting to see if it would unlock the screen.

To my surprise and dismay, the password worked, granting me access to Travis's computer. But as the screen flickered to life, my heart sank at the sight before me. Travis had left his email open. I saw an email from my assistant Shannon. She sent it around the time I boarded the jet. I don't think he saw it as it's unopened. The email read "Travis, Dua is on the way to Kansas. I had to do a lot of convincing but I think if she had been away any longer she would have ended things. Act surprised and remember the contract." I can't believe Shannon would send this. She's been my best friend or so I thought.

I'm so confused. Why is Shannon emailing Travis. I continue to do more digging as I find what I'm ultimately looking for. Travis signed a contract with my record label to fake date me in order to help him in the NFL and me write a new album.

I can't breathe.

Tears stung my eyes as I struggled to process the truth, the weight of the betrayal threatening to crush me. In that moment, everything I thought I knew about Travis – about us – crumbled away, leaving nothing but a gaping void where my trust and faith in him had once stood.

With a heavy heart, I closed the computer, unable to bear the sight of the evidence of his infidelity any longer. The truth hung heavy in the air, casting a shadow over the once bright future I had envisioned with Travis.

My heart sank as I realized the truth, the weight of the betrayal threatening to crush me under its weight.

As the weight of betrayal settled heavily upon me, a steely resolve began to take root within me. I knew that I couldn't simply confront Travis about what I had discovered; that would be too easy, too predictable. No, if he thought he could deceive me, then he had another thing coming.

With a determined glint in my eyes, I made a decision. I would bide my time, playing the part of the oblivious girlfriend while plotting my revenge behind the scenes. He has three and a half more lefts of his contract. I'm going to make his life a living hell. Travis would soon learn that he had underestimated me, that I was not one to be trifled with.
