Dua
As the morning sunlight streamed through the curtains, I slowly stirred from my sleep, feeling the warmth of Travis beside me. Opening my eyes, I couldn't help but smile at the sight of him, his peaceful expression bringing a sense of calm to my heart.
Gently nudging him awake, I greeted him with a soft kiss, savoring the tender moment we shared. With a contented sigh, I stretched and let out a sleepy "good morning" as Travis reciprocated with a warm smile.
Together, we made our way downstairs, following the tantalizing aroma of breakfast that filled the air. As we entered the kitchen, I was greeted by the sight of my mom bustling about, preparing a delicious spread of Albanian dishes.
"Good morning, sweetheart," she said, her smile brightening as she saw us. "I hope you're hungry."
Taking a seat at the table, I felt a sense of warmth and comfort wash over me as I looked around at my family gathered together. This was home, a place filled with love and cherished memories.
As we ate, laughter and conversation filled the air, each moment a reminder of the bond we shared as a family. And as I glanced at Travis, his eyes filled with love and affection, I knew that no matter where life took us, we would always have each other.
As we sat around the breakfast table, enjoying the delicious meal prepared by my mom, my dad brought up the topic of my house in Malibu. His question caught me off guard, and I exchanged a puzzled glance with Travis.
"Have you had any offers on your house yet, Dua?" my dad asked, his tone casual yet curious.
I hesitated for a moment, realizing that I hadn't mentioned my plans to sell the house to Travis. "Actually, yes," I replied, casting a quick glance at Travis before continuing. "I've decided to sell it."
Travis's expression mirrored my surprise, and I could tell he was caught off guard by the news. "You're selling your house?" he asked, his voice tinged with curiosity.
I nodded, offering him a reassuring smile. "Yeah, I've been thinking about it for a while now," I explained. "With the upcoming tour and everything, I just don't want to have to worry about the house while I'm gone."
My dad nodded in understanding, his expression thoughtful. "That makes sense," he said, his tone supportive. "It'll be one less thing for you to worry about while you're on the road."
I glanced at Travis, silently grateful for his presence and support. Despite the unexpected news, he offered me a reassuring smile, his unwavering support giving me the confidence to move forward with my decision. With him by my side, I knew that no matter where life took me, I would always have his love and support.
As we cleared the breakfast table and my family dispersed to start their day, Travis pulled me aside, a concerned expression on his face. Sensing his worry, I braced myself for the conversation that was about to unfold.
"Dua, can we talk for a minute?" Travis asked, his voice gentle yet probing.
I nodded, my heart fluttering with anticipation as we stepped away from the commotion of the kitchen, finding a quiet corner where we could talk privately.
"What's going on, babe?" Travis asked, his gaze searching mine for answers.
Taking a deep breath, I knew I had to be honest with him. "Travis, there's something I need to tell you," I began, my voice tinged with uncertainty. "The real reason I'm selling my house in Malibu is because... it's going to cost more than I expected to get out of my contract."
Travis's brow furrowed in confusion, and I could see the concern in his eyes as he processed my words. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice tinged with worry.
I sighed, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders as I confided in him. "It's complicated," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. "But the truth is, I need to sell the house to cover the costs of breaking my contract. And... I'd rather sell my Malibu house than my house in London."
Travis's expression softened as he took in my words, his eyes filled with understanding and empathy. "I had no idea, Dua," he said, his voice filled with compassion. "I'm so sorry you're going through this."
I offered him a small smile, grateful for his support and understanding. "It's okay, Travis," I reassured him, reaching out to squeeze his hand.
"How about you come to the Chiefs' New Year's Eve party with me? It might help take your mind off things." He offered.
I looked up at him, touched by his thoughtfulness. "Travis," I began hesitantly, "I'm a little worried about keeping our relationship low-key at the party. With so many people around, I'm afraid someone might leak something to the press."
Travis took my hand reassuringly, his gaze steady and reassuring. "Don't worry, Dua," he said with a confident smile. "I'll make sure everything stays under wraps. No one will leak anything about us. We'll just enjoy the party together, like any other couple."
I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me at his words. "Okay," I replied, a small smile playing on my lips. "I trust you, Travis. I would love to come." I said.
As we gathered with my family, my brother Djin brought up the upcoming New Year's Eve game with excitement evident in his voice. "Hey, sis," he said eagerly, "I've checked my schedule, and I can make it to the game on New Year's Eve. But everyone else has to head back to London."
I considered the proposition, feeling torn between wanting to support Travis and the team and the practicalities of our situation. "I don't know, Djin," I replied, uncertainty creeping into my voice. "I probably should skip the game, especially with everything going on."
But Djin was insistent, his enthusiasm infectious. "Come on, Dua," he urged, flashing me a playful grin. "It'll be a blast."
Travis joined in, offering his encouragement. "Djin's right, Dua," he said with a reassuring smile. "We'll make sure you have a great time at the game. And besides, it's New Year's Eve – what better way to celebrate than with a Chiefs victory?"
I glanced between my brother and Travis, feeling a mixture of apprehension and excitement swirling within me. Ultimately, the prospect of spending quality time with my family and supporting Travis won me over. With a nod, I made my decision. "Okay," I said, a smile spreading across my face. "Let's do it. I'll come to the game."
And with that, we made plans to attend the New Year's Eve game together, ready to soak in the excitement and energy of the stadium as we cheered on the Chiefs to victory.
