Did you wish you put up more of a fight? When she said it was too much? Do you wish you could still touch...her? It's just a question.

The village was quiet, but so loud. Whispers about the last girl gone missing echoed through the streets. A boy, littered with bruises and cuts, walked on the gravel road. Tanjiro began to walk over to the boy after he heard the whispers of the people around him.
"Night after night...it's so scary!" One exclaimed.
"I know," another replied. "When night falls, yet another girl gets taken."
Tanjiro jogged his way up to the boy, "Kazumi!"
The boy turned on his heels towards the noise. He looked like he walked through hell and back. Y/n's empathy took over her brain. She knew she had to help this boy in any way she possibly could.
"Do you have a moment? I would like to hear your story," Tanjiro spoke. Kazumi raised an eyebrow at Tanjiro. He looked at us as if we could ever help him. Reluctantly, the boy agreed. He led them through the events of the night when his lover went missing.
They stopped at a road, "this is where Satoko went missing. It's okay if you don't believe me."
"We believe you! We really do," Tanjiro reassured. Before y/n could say anything, Tanjiro dropped to all fours and started sniffing the ground. Kazumi looked at him like he'd seen a ghost. He looked up at y/n, his eyes asking her if she is seeing the same thing. Y/n shrugged, basically saying to just roll with it.
Kazumi and y/n followed Tanjiro. She kept a look out in case anything popped up. Kazumi tried to make small talk with y/n, but he gave up eventually because y/n would only nod or saying the bare minimum.
A few hours later, the sun set. The sky was laced with pinks and oranges that blended together. Y/n always loved sunsets, mostly because her mom always said that when she passed to look up at the sky and she would be able to see her.
"It's getting dark," Kazumi stated. "I'm happy you guys care so much, but shouldn't you guys pick up the search in the morning? Aren't you tired?"
"No, we aren't tired. And we will not stop searching until Satoko is found," Tanjiro sternly said.
"Plus, they are most active at night," y/n added.
"You guys are..." Kazumi's voiced trailed off, knowing the answer to the question he was about to ask.
Y/n felt her heart rate increase and Tanjiro picked up a stronger scent than before. Both of them looked at each other before running off. Kazumi followed behind them, but he struggled to keep up. Tanjiro leaped from building to building with y/n close behind him. Y/n looked over her shoulder to Kazumi, who was still following.
Tanjiro jumped down from a house onto, what it seemed like, an isolated street. Y/n could feel the demon's near and Tanjiro smelt them. Y/n drew her sword, still not being able to place her finger on where the demon was coming from. Tanjiro seemed to know because he stabbed the ground with his sword.
A black orb arose from the ground where Tanjiro had stabbed. He jumped backwards with a girl in a green kimono. She was unconscious. Y/n leaped from the roof, in between Tanjiro and an arm that came from the ground. The arm held a piece of the girl's kimono. The demon rose from the ground, only showing his top half.
"Are those the girls you took!?" Tanjiro called out. The demon looked angry, super angry. The demon had horns and a vein popped out from its forehead. His eyes were a dark shade of red, they looked like they would actually start dripping blood.
