Garfield leaned back in his chair, propped his feat up on the table and leafed through a stack of fresh $100 bills.
"Ahhh. Smell that Jon? Smells like success." Garfield purred.
Jon smiled back and relaxed into his chair.
"A job well done means a fine dinner and some time off!" Garfield yelled excitedly. "Now that the business with Edgar is settled, we can take a nice vacation. I've already been thinking it over."
Jon's expression turned to a slight frown.
"We never found Edgar" he said softly.
"Who cares?" Garfield replied. "We had a job to settle his dispute with Charly and we did that excellently! With Edgar missing and the lawsuit we filed, Charlie was able to collect a heft sum for his previous work and doesn't ever have to perform again if he doesn't want to."
"I guess," Jon muttered. "Still, would've liked a happier ending..."
Garfield rolled his eyes. "Jon, this isn't an ending, you dolt. It's a new beginning! Time for a nice vacation and then, I'm sure, a new case." He continued flipping through his pile of cash. "People are garbage, I can promise you they'll find something new to be petty and fight about, and when they do, we will figure it out and get paid handsomely to do so."
A sly smile spread across his face.
"Besides, I've invested some of our money into a great trip! Jon, drumroll please."
Jon rolled his eyes and softly began to tap his desk.
"We are going... to NBA All-Star weekend in Indiana! I got us tickets to the game and all the events!"
Initially slightly confused, Jon's expression turned into a slight smile.
"Get your best 'drip' ready Jon! I don't want you embarassing me at the festivities. They don't call me 'Garfie Buckets' for nothing!"
Jon began to chuckle. It was a happy ending after all.
