Tobias Pov

Caleb and I just visited his parents. We explained that I was from Abnegation also and that I was Tris's boyfriend. We never really came to the part where she was shot and had surgery because their father looked quite furious so we decided to leave. Now we are walking back to the train tracks.

"Why didn't you want to jump off the train when we came?"

"I was scared and I was afraid I would get seriously hurt. What surprised me though was that you picked me up and jumped out with ease. How can you lift so heavy? And how can you lift so heavy while jumping out of a moving train and landing so perfectly?" He bombards me with questions and they tumble over each other in my head.

"The first question was why I can lift so heavy. The answer is pretty simple; the pedrad brothers are both very heavy and two big toddlers. They sometimes jump on your back and you need the ability to lift heavy. Also after the fights, the unconscious initiates needed to get to the infirmary so I needed to lift them sometimes. But your sister was also a big part of me lifting heavy. Not that she's heavy but heavier than when I lifted her out of the net, I knew that if I wanted to protect her at all times I would have to lift her sometimes."

"You want to protect her at all times?" Caleb asks me. I nod, "Yes, I do. I wouldn't survive without her. If she dies I have almost nothing to live for. She's my whole world." I say with the ghost of a tear in the corner of my eye.

"What was the second question again?" I ask my voice a little trembling. It was so subtle I think he didn't even hear.

"Uhm, how you can lift heavy while jumping off a moving train?"

"Again, Tris. I lifted her a few times when we went on the train, just in case something would happen I could lift her and get on and off well. And on top of that, I'm a prodigy of course. Never underestimate a prodigy because Tris is also one. You want to practice getting on and off a train?"

"Yeah that would be nice and Tris would also appreciate it if I could use the trains. Let's do it." He seems determined this time. We run alongside the train when it comes towards us and he manages to grab the train and my hand and pull himself in with a little bit of help from me. pretty good for the second time, well, for an erudite.

I wait til we're about 5 minutes away from the point where the train is at the minimum speed and tell Caleb we almost need to jump and that it's the safest point to jump off the train. He nods and I see him swallow hard but in his eyes is a certain determination I have seen many times in Tris's eyes only in her eyes is the emotion stronger and more fierce. If she has that look in her eyes she's almost unstoppable but Caleb I think is just very determined.

"Hey Four, could you hold my hand when we jump?" I give him a look that says 'Are you serious', "Not in that way," He adds fast when he sees my expression. "I mean I need someone to drag me out I can't do it otherwise." I mean it kinda makes sense so I just nod and reach out my hand when we're there. His hand feels weird in mine so different from Tris's hand but also just like her hand. I drag him out of the train and I see him trying to stay on his feet but he leans way further back than necessary and lands on his but. He throws his fists in the air and whoops nonetheless. I chuckle a little and help him up again. We cross the tracks and wait for another train and when it comes we repeat the process only we jump out at a few places where the train goes between medium and slow speed. In the next five tries, he actually manages to land on his feet. When he gets the hang of it we go back to eriudite and the train there is going a little faster than the places where we jumped off before but it doesn't seem to bother him. So we both jump out and land perfectly. He looks at me and says enthusiastically, "That was awesome!". I genuinely smile, something only Tris and Olivia had managed to make me do. Together we walk back to Tris her room and when we reach it we see Tris in the hospital bed surrounded by three men. Shit. I never should have left her alone for that long. Why is it always when I'm away bad things happen? Why always Tris? Caleb looks at me worried and I nod. We silently walk through the open door and I use a pressure point to knock the first guy out. I throw a few solid punches at another guy who goes unconscious and the last guy grabs me in a choke from behind. I can't breathe for a moment. What do I do? To my surprise, he suddenly goes limp. I see Caleb triumphantly shaking his hand out. The temple of the guy is red in the exact shape of Caleb's fist. I chuckle a little, maybe he has a little dauntless in him.

"That was awesome!" I hear a soft voice croak behind us. We turn around to see Tris all okay in her hospital bed. "The only problem is that they aren't a treat..." she says.
