I have to agree! I think Hunter is actually a very caring and protective yandere as well!
But that comes with it's own territory since he's yandere after all.
His protectiveness comes from insecurity, a normal Hunter is quite jealous, so a yandere Hunter is considerably worse.
Believing that just anybody could take you away, that you'd leave him at the drop of a hat.
He has to try extra hard to get your approval, with gifts and even going as far as to.. get rid of.. certain people that have wronged you.
Even if it's something you don't want, he just thinks you're being shy!
Or perhaps you feel like you don't deserve it!
But don't worry, he knows you better than anyone else ever could, which is why you should stay with him and only him.
