10 - finding hope in the absurd

*POV ???:*

With bated breath I leaned back against the car door right behind me, my foot nervously tapping every so often, my arms without me realizing had crossed one another, yet another sign that I was getting increasingly worried.

???: "Damn it... damn it I hate this so much !"

???: "Why can't I just rest easy..."

I felt a slight force push against me causing me to immediately step forward in surprise, turning around I see a certain rat staring up at me with a grin, although her eyes told a story of annoyance, yeah... of course this was none other than...

Baelz: "Oi... IRyS move ya fatass outta the way !"

IRyS: "That's no way to talk to a lady and you know it."

Baelz: "Shit didn't know you of all people cared about THAT !"

While rolling my eyes she opened the door and stepped out, seemingly stretching judging by the noises I heard, together we found ourselves in what is best described as a desert, empty, nothing to be found other than sand hardened to not cave in when stepped upon, this whole place was a mess that used a lot of work.

Baelz: "So uh... why the fuck are we here again' ?"

IRyS: "We're... waiting on someone."

Baelz: "Could ya be any more vague..."

When the door had shut once more I leaned against the car again, Bae to my left who now had two dice in her hand which she continiously threw up, always catching them nonchalantly.

IRyS: "If you want the long answer, then it's we're picking up someone and taking them to a much worse place than they are right now, happy ?"

Baelz: "Jeez whats got your feathers all riled up ?"

IRyS: "I don't think that expression really works on me."

Baelz: "Eh, maybe I've been hangin' around Moom and the others a lil' too much alright ?"

Baelz: "Not my fault you've been busy doin' whatever the fuck it is..."

IRyS: "I'm not trying to be rude, but explaining it to you would only sound more confusing."

Baelz: "You severely underestimate how SMART I am, after all I ain't..."

She stops for a moment and throws the dice away, a moment later she brought out a dice with so many numbers it was practically incomprehensible to read what it rolled and yet, confidently she started shuffling it in her hand before tossing it, upon landing it spun around for a bit before stopping eventually.

Baelz: "5,755,383 years old !"

IRyS: "The last time we talked about your age you said it was 2,347,180..."

Baelz: "Well duh, that was my first ever dice roll, but it's 'bout time I did it again !"

IRyS: "I'm starting to question why you bothered joining me on this trip."

Baelz: "...Bruh."

Bae looks at me with a more annoyed expression than before, it's always a surprise when she looks genuinely annoyed, not a welcome surprise, but one nonetheless, knowing she won't drop this topic I reluctantly give in.

IRyS: "We're taking him to what is basically purgatory okay ?"

Baelz: "The fuck now ?"

IRyS: "I told you it'd only be more confusing, leading to more questions from your side, that I may or may not have the time or patience for right now."
