"No way dude."
Advisor sat patiently, his hands in his lap. He had come to enjoy his afternoon meetings with the woman.
"It wouldn't be painful. Just a quick prick and it will be done."
She shook her head. She had glamoured her hair blonde, a warm colour, like spun gold. "I'm not worried about pain, man. You're not going to test my blood. That's weird. Uh uh."
He sighed. "I would be able to trace your lineage and then-"
"I. Said. Uh. Uh." She set her jaw.
She was adorable. Ever since the Gala when she had shown him her - what did she call it?- amplification, he had been even more intrigued in what she could do.
He seemed to recall Brock saying she had said her grandmother was a nymph. That would explain her abilities to a certain extent. They weren't known for being very powerful though. She had told him that she could do it with any emotion and the intensity he had felt…
Imagine the edge she'd give in conflict. In battle, even the hardiest warrior had fears and doubts - what if that was bounced back at you, a hundred fold? A war was won and lost in small battles - all the way down to the lowliest soldier. Even in diplomatic settings, she'd be a boon, with her empathic abilities. It was extraordinary. He had a theory that she also used instinctual and learned knowledge of human behaviour to bridge the gap between the raw experience of others' emotions and interpreting the intent and cause of others' responses. Put simply, just because you experience an emotion doesn't mean you can name it. Ronnie could.
He wanted to understand if she had something else mixed in there. There was something about her. Something that irked his dragon - not in a concerning way - more as a puzzle to solve.
He disagreed with Sevnia on this one. Veronika was a great choice for Queen.

He seemed to accept she wasn't going to budge on this. "Could you demonstrate your elemental abilities?"
"They're so weak. It's a complete joke."
"Humour me." He set a series of objects in front of her. A feather, a bowl of water, a candle - unlit - a dish with a small pot plant.
She huffed a breath. She was super tired. It was only because the men had to get back to work that she wasn't still just wrapped up in bed now. The two men had been so lovey dovey too. A lot of spontaneous kisses and cuddles. Absolutely adorable. It made her heart clench.
That mark on Brand's chest… It was so hot. She kept thinking about that same mark on her. The two bite marks on Brock had a silver sheen to them. The same glean of the lunar marks on Brock. Fuck. What am I doing? Head in the game.
She focused on the feather. This one was probably the easiest. She lifted it, creating a small gust of wind about a foot off his desk. She guided it back down.
Advisor nodded.
The water rippled, and that was about all. That got a frown from the man.
"I can't do fire."
"No? Have you tried?"
Ronnie shrugged. Her fire would immediately alert them of her true nature. "Yeah. And I can't do anything with earth."
"Not even the soil?"
She shook her head. "You know…" she wasn't sure if she should admit this. But this strange man kind made her feel comfortable. He was very chill. And she could deal with chill.
