"Ok everyone, listen up!"
Tony called to your group. It was the end of your weekly meeting, and you were all hanging out after it, wondering what everyone's plans were. There were no upcoming missions planned so everyone was a little more relaxed than usual.
"Since it's been a little slow for us around here, the government wants to see how we have been spending some of their money. I am taking them on a tour of Casa Avengers and the compound. I think we'll follow that up with a cocktail reception and party"
Everyone groaned.
"It's mandatory you all attend, to rub shoulders with these people. You know, smile and be happy for a night?"
Tony looked over at Bucky who was sitting next to you scowling. You looked over at him and gave him a soft smile, making his face relax a little before he cleared his throat and looked down at the table, suddenly becoming very interested in a pen stain by his notebook.
You were Bucky's mission partner and dare you say, friend? He wasn't the greatest at hanging out with you after missions, but he was always just sort of around you.
You are a tactical agent brought in to assist the Avengers when they need it. Your skills lie in weapons and mission planning which is a great asset to the team. You were initially only brought on for a few missions overseas, but they decided you should move to the compound and take on more of a permanent roll, which you were happy to do.
You were paired with Nat and Steve on a few of your initial missions, but since Bucky joined, you were moved to be his partner.
The two of you work well together in your mission planning and out in the field, despite his grumpy exterior. The man can be stubborn, grumpy, and sarcastic in training and planning, but out in the field, he knows what he is doing, and he always has your back.
"Party is this Friday. Formal. You know the drill"
Tony tapped a few things on his watch then left the conference room you were all sitting in.
"Ugh" You scowled at Tony's retreating back.
You HATED parties with a passion.
You never really liked dressing up, ever since you were little. The idea of having to primp yourself, stuff yourself in a dress that made you uncomfortable, and wear shoes that make your feet feel squished and swollen while trying to fake smile through it all exhausted you.
You never really know how to dress for your body type outside of workout wear and tactical gear. You have a few pairs of jeans that are basic, boots, runners, a pair of flip flops, and flat pair of black shoes, but in terms of style, you don't have a clue what's in and what looks good. Your focus has always been training and not fashion.
Makeup? Yeah, no thanks.
You have no idea what is what and the idea of having to do your hair and makeup gives you mad anxiety since you have no idea where to start. Nat and Wanda help you for some of the parties when they aren't on missions, but they can only do so much. You can never follow online tutorials because the person usually goes too fast for you to figure out what they are doing so you usually forget it and pray you don't look like a clown.
"You ok over there?"
Nat chuckled while you scowled at the table.
"I hate parties" you mumbled.
Bucky and Steve were still sitting around the table watching.
"We haven't had one for a while" Steve added.
