A/N - Just a cute little follow up to the previous story.
You froze at the message before your floppy stomach snapped you out of it.
"Holy shit" you blurted out.
Bucky Barnes, starting pitcher for the Commandos texted you. You had a death grip on your phone while you stared at the message like it was some sort of fine museum piece you were admiring.
You cleared your throat and swallowed before you sat up in bed, resting against your headboard. You wanted to be alert for this. You swiped to open the message and typed "Yup" before you deleted it.
"Damn it, too lame" you mumbled then you typed "Of course" before you deleted that one mumbling "Too desperate.
Just say yes you dork" you scolded yourself before you settled on plain old "Yes" then you hit send.
Not even 10 seconds later, your phone lit up with an incoming call. Your heart hammered while you answered it.
"Hello?" You gave yourself a point for not sounding like a breathless weirdo.
"Uh, hi. It's Bucky...from the games?" Bucky rolled his eyes and internally scolded himself for sounding like a dork.
You chuckled and that made him instantly relax.
"Hi Bucky" you answered.
"I don't normally do this..." came his reply.
You smiled to yourself.
"Oh? You seemed pretty sure of yourself out there" you teased, and it was his turn to chuckle.
"I don't think I've ever tossed a ball into the stands to someone that had my number on it, even in high school or college" he admitted.
"Well, I'm glad you did. I'm Y/n by the way" you smiled to yourself.
"Nice to meet you Y/n" Bucky's smooth voice made your heart skip a beat.
You could listen to him say your name on repeat forever and never get tired of it. You chatted back and forth a bit, learning a few things about each other, keeping the conversation casual and light before he blurted out "Can I take you out to dinner sometime?"
You froze. Of course this was the result you wanted. A handsome baseball player you've admired for a long time, and who has pre-occupied your thoughts over the past 48-hours asked you out.
You were shocked but said "Ok" thinking about the conversations you had with Nat. She insisted he was into you, so you decided to go for it.
You could hear him exhale on the other end making you smile to yourself.
"Cool, cool" he replied, unable to hide the smile from his face.
"Ok, well, I've kept you up long enough. I'll text you tomorrow to set up a time for our date."
Your stomach fluttered again at the word date.
"Ok Bucky. I'd like that."
You both said your goodnights to each other, and you went to bed with a giant smile plastered to your face.

"I called her Steve" Bucky whispered to his catcher while they left one of the training rooms. Steve's eyebrows rose at his best friend.
"How did you get her number?" he asked.
Bucky told him how you tossed a ball back at him that had your number on it making Steve chuckle to himself.
