A/N - This was another request from my Tumblr account and I loved writing it!  I do have that Tumblr account as a back up to this one in case my stories are ever taken down like they were in Feb (still bitter about that). Nothing new or different gets posted to Tumblr as Wattpad is still the first place I post a story followed by Tumblr.

Request: WhileBucky is away on missions, Alpine has taken up the habit of going to work withthe reader. She runs a cute little bookshop. He comes home early from a missionto find his girlfriend and cat nowhere to be found.

Warning: An unholy amount of fluff ahead which may cause you to have phantom cavities. Proceed with caution. Hehe

"Your total is $45.99" you smiled at the older lady standing across from you. 

"Here you go." She tapped her card against the machine, and it made the familiar ping sound that always excited you. 

"Thanks, have a nice day." You handed her back the paper bag full of books. 

"Thanks dear. I'm going to tell all my friends about this place" she gushed, then gave a small wave as she left the store. 

You smiled to yourself and filed away her receipt then checked to see if there were any new online orders. 

You heard the bell on the front door ding telling you there was another customer, so you looked over and your eyes lit up. 

"Bucky!" You waved from the front counter. 

He smiled wide and wandered over to you. 

You came around the counter and gave him a big hug. 

"Hey doll." He squeezed you tight and kissed your cheek making you giggle. 

"Oof, squishy!" you laughed as he let you go. 

"Busy day?" He leaned against the counter. 

"It was steady earlier but has since slowed down" you put your hands on your hips and surveyed the shop.

Your little book shop 'The Book Nook' had been doing well recently so you were busier than ever. That's where you met your boyfriend Bucky. 

Quite a few months ago, he had wandered in on a quiet Tuesday afternoon looking for some historical fiction and science fiction books, so you helped him find the sections and made some recommendations. He bought a few copies and returned every week until he worked up the courage to ask you out, which you accepted. He took you out for a coffee a few blocks away and, well, the rest was history.

"How was your meeting?" you asked while you took out a cloth and started dusting some shelves. 

"It was good. Got another mission coming up though" he quietly said. 

Your insides fell a little, but you smiled and nodded knowing this was part of his job. 

Once Bucky was comfortable around you, he told you his history, all about the Winter Soldier, the Avengers, and how he now works with Sam and the government. You were shocked and at one point, he was unsure if you would stick around, but you did. His past was terrible, horrific even, but you see the man he is today, and you know he isn't anywhere near that thanks to his rehab and therapy. 

"When is it?" you asked. 

"Few days from now. Should only be a couple days, nothing longer." 

"Ok."
