Bucky A/U

You groaned as you woke the following morning. You were still in your clothes while you stretched out on the bed. You were better rested today than the day before and you were looking forward to your last full day at the camp.

You had pulled yourself off the canoeing excursion and had decided to stay back and relax by the lake. You didn't need to get lost on the land AND water while you groaned a little at the memory.

You changed, got yourself cleaned up, and headed out the cabin for breakfast. Just as you opened the door, Bucky stood on the other side of it with his hand raised like he was right about to knock.

"Oh, hello."

You were shocked he was at your door.

"Uh, hi. Want to walk with me to breakfast?" He gestured towards the main building.

"Sure."

You bit your lip to hide your smile. Bucky walked with you to the main building, walking in together while your sister and Steve stood at the buffet line smirking.

"It's not what it looks like. We didn't...I mean, he was on my porch this morning...He walked with me..." You blabbed while your sister chuckled.

"Calm down," she assured you.

"Who cares if you spent the night with the best man," she teased making your cheeks flush.

Bucky stood a little farther down the buffet line, but he kept looking over to you and smiling, before going back to piling more food on his plate. You filled your plate and ended up at your sisters table with Steve and Bucky.

"You're not coming on the canoe excursion then?" Steve looked between you two.

"No!" Both you and Bucky said at the same time making them chuckle.

"Fair enough," your sister smiled.

"I plan on reading by the lake today and relaxing," you announced with a mouthful of eggs. Steve looked over at Bucky.

"Work stuff," he mumbled as Steve frowned at his best friend.

"Then maybe some archery?" Bucky added making Steve smile.

Bucky did not want to partake in any archery but thought he would tell Steve so he wouldn't be mad at him for not 'being fun'.

You saw the group off on their canoes and went to your small dock setup complete with towel, umbrella, chair, bag of snacks, and small cooler full of water and drinks. Yeah, it seemed extra, but you didn't care.

The day was beginning to get warm and you were enjoying the peace and quiet of being out on the dock. You had swum a few times and went back to your cushy set up to dry off. You sat in the sun relaxing when you saw a large shadow over you.

"Hey Bucky."

You didn't look up from the book you were reading.

"How did you know it was me?" He flopped down on your blanket.

"Because everyone is out canoeing?"

"Oh, right."

You saw him frown to himself before he looked over the water.

"Water is nice." You pointed to the ladder that led to the lake.

You could see Bucky frown at it and lightly shudder. He wore his bathing suit shorts and a white t-shirt and flip flops.

"Did you swim already?" He asked looking you over.

You had on your bathing suit and a sheer black cover up over top of it.
