hello and welcome to Spotless Mind, the first book in Tzaraiya Dreyar trilogy.
if you're a first time reader, welcome, and if you're a returning reader: welcome back! i have been working on zara's story for what feels like centuries, her story has changed in so many ways, it's seen itself through so many different iterations, dating back to when i first attempted to write about fairy tail, and showcase my love for natsu through zara's original form, back when she was named 'Ryoko Tatsuya'. Spotless Mind is a new title, for those of you that remember when this book was titled 'Of Sunlight and Stars', or'Maybe This Time', you are in the right place.
for starters, yes, this is me restarting the story for the umpteenth time. i just found that i wasn't doing zara's story justice, i felt like i was getting a bit lazy, and cutting corners, skipping over important arcs in the hopes that flashbacks and throw off comments would be enough to cover what was missed. However, as I began to reread this book, i found myself feeling rushed, i don't think i was writing it all to my fullest potential.
i wanted to flesh out zara's backstory, the divide between her life as a wizard raised by the dreyars, and who she is as a girl that was born to a dragon. i expounded on her family, added a few more siblings that i can't wait for you guys to meet. i wanted to show more of her ties to the magic council, and her relationships with other characters outside of fairy tail. i wanted to show her beginning in a better way, show her dynamic with ivan, laxus, and makarov in a way that didn't rely so heavily on waiting until battle of fairy tail to begin.
zara himiko is the most beloved oc i've ever created. she means the absolute world to me, and i can't imagine continuing her and natsu's story with so many holes and half assed attempts at creating lore and mythology. so i'm starting again, i hope that to all of my readers, both new and old, that you understand why this is happening, and that you're able to enjoy this new version just as much. she means so much to me, and i cannot wait for her story to go even further this go around.
i've said it once, i'll say it a thousand times: fairy tail means the absolute world to me. it's been my favorite anime since before i was a preteen (i'm 21 now lol)... natsu has always been my favorite character, and i want to do his love story justice, i want to write something that Hiro Mashima himself could be proud of, and i really believe that this next approach will be exactly what i need to make that happen. thank y'all for all the support and love on this fic, thank you for adding it to your reading lists, and leaving votes... i do not take it for granted in the slightest.
