After a long day at work, you take your time walking back towards the apartment complex. As you approach the building, you catch sight of two figures sitting on the second floor platform in front of one of the apartment doors. As you inch closer, one of the figures fades into view, resembling Choso. The other... is a blonde-haired woman. The same one you had seen before.
You scrunch your eyebrows at the sight and see Choso's eyes widen as they see you. You quicken your pace, your footsteps growing louder as each sole hits the ground harder.
Choso abruptly stands up, going over to the top of the stairway just as you reach the bottom of it. Slightly out of breath, you stare up at him, almost glaring.
"Just a friend, huh?" You hiss between breaths. You slowly make your way up the steps. "No need to tell me. I'll find out for myself."
Catching Choso off guard, you push past him, brushing by his shoulder as you make your way over to the blonde woman whose eyes are already resting on you.
As the pit of anger grows in the depths of your stomach, you extend a hand out to her.
"I'm Y/N. And you are?"
"His ex-girlfriend." The woman lies through her teeth to you, a mischievous look hiding in her dark pink eyes. She extends her hand out to you, but just as you are about to shake her hand, Choso's cuts between you, swiping her hand away from yours.
"Don't lie to her, Yuki." He huffs at her.
"Yuuuuki." You say, drawing her name out long with a tilt of your head and a smile. "Now, if you'll excuse me, Yuki. Choso and I need to talk. In private." You explain as you push yourself up from your kneeling position. You turn towards a dumbfounded Choso, grab him swiftly by the wrist, and yank him into your apartment, leaving a speechless Yuki outside and alone.
Right as you close the door, you turn on your heel and face Choso with your arms crossed.
"Do you take me for a fuckin' idiot?" You ask him, stepping closer to him until his back rests against the door.
"I don't. I don't." He answers, putting his hands up to show him surrendering to your questions.
"Ex-girlfriend??" You press him, squinting your eyes at him skeptically.
"She's not. She's lying." He replies frantically, his eyes begging for you to let him explain himself.
"Sit down. She can wait." You instruct him, gesturing towards the couch. He nods understandingly as you stand aside and let him take a seat on the cushion. You take your place at the end of the couch with one leg crossed over the other.
"We didn't do anything, Y/N. I promise you." He says with his shoulders tense. He knows very clearly how everything looks to you and he knows that you could very well turn a blind eye to him and let him be with her. Truthfully, he has no intention of doing so.
"If not your ex-girlfriend, then what?" You ask with an inquisitive tilt of your head.
Choso takes a long deep breath in as he tries to get his shoulders to relax. He rubs the palms of his hands on his pants as he turns his body to fully face you.
"We used to hook up, okay? And then I stupidly caught feelings for her." He explains. "But she ditched me for some rich asshole in Kyoto and that was it. I didn't see her for a long time and my feelings went away."
You uncross your arms as you sense truth in his words. The anger starts to wash away into understanding, yet you still remain skeptical of their relationship now.
"So then, why am I coming back to see you two sitting side by side?" You ask.
"She showed up unannounced- well, not unannounced. She texted me asking to come here and I said no."
You narrow your eyes into slits at his explanation as you ponder his answer for yourself. For all you know, they could have been up to something. But they were sitting outside in plain sight for anyone else to see.
"I don't wanna argue. I can show you the text messages, Y/N." Choso offers, his voice pleading for your trust.
You sigh and tilt your head back, staring at the ceiling as if it'll give you an answer to your troubles.
"Thank you, but no." You respond. Rage still sits rather dormant inside of you, it's not anything that you want to act on, but not something you're just going to write off.
You push yourself up from your seat and head to your room to change without saying a word. After a couple minutes of getting dressed in what looks like a clubbing outfit, you leave your room and look at Choso.
"You can handle this situation with her however you want." You tell him, slipping on a pair of shoes and putting your hand on the doorknob. "But, I'm gonna head out."
He furrows his brows, immediately getting up from the couch.
"Wait-"
You swing the door open and head outside, not giving Yuki another ounce of your energy. You make your way down the staircase as Choso rushes outside behind you. He doesn't give Yuki a single glance as he chases after you.
"Y/N, wait!" He calls after you, but you keep your head forward, making your way towards The Weekend to let loose and blow off steam. The conversation you had with Choso at the club echoes through your mind as you hear Choso's footsteps pick up in the background.
Was it all a lie to appease you? Or was he really being truthful.
So many thoughts cloud your mind as your eyes glaze over from frustration of finding out the way you had to. She was never really just a friend.
Suddenly, you feel Choso's hand wrap around your arm, pulling you out of your head and forcing you to face him.
Without a word, he places his hands at the side of your face and he tugs you towards him. His lips crash into yours, pulling you into a passionately apologetic kiss.
He pulls away from you but stares intently into your glossy eyes.
"Okay.." He mutters between breaths. "She wasn't just a friend. But I don't care about her like that anymore. We argued and that was it. I told her about you. And I swear, there's nothing here for me but you."
You study his deep purple eyes as he holds your face in his hands. You take a deep breath and lower your guard for him, washing away your previous inhibitions as you melt into his arms and trust in his word.
"We can talk about this more later, but right now, I just need you to know that, Y/N." He says and places his forehead against yours, his hair gently grazing your cheek.
You place your hands upon his and give him a small smile, pulling his hands down and holding them in yours.
"I'm gonna go to the club, okay?" You speak softly to him, letting go of his hands. "You can text me when she's gone."
Despite feeling as though the situation was still unresolved Choso let you be on your way, watching you as you turn the corner and disappear underneath the street light.
