He truly and whole-heartedly cared for her and that care is reflected right through his frustration towards her. But now...

You're just not her.

How he feels about you is much more than crystal clear. And honestly, you know you wouldn't have it any other way. Though you understand why the severing of their ties had to go the way it did, you can't help but feel a little guilty.

With the entirety of Choso's and Yuki's conversation swirling around in the depths of your mind, you sit in the middle of the couch, staring at his now lukewarm cup full of coffee. Their chattering has ceased, and now silence floats around the room while your mind attempts to swallow you whole.

But just before you sink beneath the depths of your thoughts, the door creaks open, and your raven-haired lover steps past the threshold with an earnest expression on his face.

Your head perks up to look at him, unsure of how to feel or what to say, you simply offer him a small smile. At the very least, you're relieved to see him come back into your life in one piece- and, most importantly, still yours.

"Hey." He greets you warmly, returning the smile to you. He makes his way over to you, settling down on the couch, but hesitant to come closer. "I'm sorry. You were waiting for me."

He leans forward and clasps his hands together, resting his elbows on his knees and interlocking his fingers. He looks at you, following your eyes that trail towards the window at the end of the wall, cracked open.

"You heard everything." He says.

"I heard everything." You reply.

You place the tip of your finger on the side of the coffee cup, gently sliding it towards him. He takes a deep breath and then exhales, accepting the cup with gratitude.

"It might be a little cold now." You mention, taking a small sip of your own cup of coffee, now seemingly running a bit cold as well.

A blanket of silence descends upon the two of you, tense but somehow relieving for both of your rapidly beating hearts. After taking a long swig of his coffee, Choso holds the cup in his hands, right above his lap. His eyes make his way to you, observant, as if he could hear the pounding of your heart clearly over his.

Through the silence he takes a deep breath in and then exhales as he leans forward, placing the cup on he table and pushing himself up from his seat. You glance at him to see him stepping around the table, towards you. The two of you lock eyes and he places hand at your upper back as he sits down next to you, his palm slowly and comfortingly sliding down to your lower back.

At a sudden loss for words now, you simply just watch him as he settles down by your side, shoulder to shoulder. His heart is calm now, only seeking to offer you the same tranquility.

Mindlessly, you take a sip of your coffee, while also drinking in his presence beside you. Your eyes scan him, taking in the way he holds himself; with one behind your back and the other on his leg. His hair falls down the sides of his face, framing his jawline, while his ends rest on each shoulder.

As you go to take another sip, he sits up and raises his free hand forward, putting his fingers on the top of the cup. He gently takes it from your hands, simultaneously stealing the breath from your nervous lungs with such a small, but assertive gesture.

Still unsure of what to say, your head turns as you watch his hands carry the cup and place it down on the coffee table right in front of you. Quickly though, Choso places a finger underneath your chin, lightly redirecting your gaze at him before you can get too distracted.
