"Oh jesus fucking christ." You huff as you throw your head back to look at the sky, considering whether or not you should actually go inside.
Way to rub a bit of salt in the wound. You roll your eyes as you turn on your heel, thinking that it might be best to just high tail it out of there.
Just as you solidify your decision to leave, a slim and tall figure dressed in all black, blocks your way out of the crowd. You look up to see Gojo and instinctively take a step backwards, bumping into the person behind you.
"You leaving?" He asks nonchalantly, as if you haven't really been on the best terms with each other.
The last time you had seen him you cut your time short with him to do some intimate business with Choso instead. Leaving your situation with Gojo open-ended.
After taking too much time to give him a definitive answer, he grabs you by the shoulders and swiftly turns you around, nudging you towards the entrance.
"Go on. I'll buy you a drink." He says.
With a look of confusion and hesitance plastered on your face, you follow as the waiting crowd floods into the entrance of the club. Since it seems your chances of escaping now are low, you decide to take Gojo up on his offer. It's difficult to say no to a drink bought with someone else's money.
Though you had just been here a couple days ago, you missed the ambience of the club. the heart pumping music and the head pounding drinks always managed to mix well together, especially when you're blowing off steam.
Gojo guides you to the bar and asks for two drinks. The bartender happily slides him the two that he had asked for, and then the two freebies. Gojo hands you a pair of drinks and while holding the other pair, he gestures you towards an empty couch.
The two of you take your seats and begin sipping on your drinks with the same quickened pace. Even though you had left things in an awkward position with Gojo, you didn't feel the need to get his attention nor the need to get away from him.
Gojo swirls his drink in his hand and looks up at you.
"Here by yourself?" He asks, curious as to why a certain raven-haired man isn't standing steadfastly by your side tonight.
You nod to him in response, not giving him much of an explanation. He nods back at you, not wanting a lengthy answer anyway.
"You okay?" He asks with a concerned tilt of his head. The slight glassy look in your eyes shows the motivation behind his question. You might have not let him down easily, but he still cared about you.
"Yeah. Thank you." You respond tersely after clearing your throat. You look over at the DJ mixing music at the stage, avoiding Gojo's eyes now that he's noticed you've very recently nearly cried.
A thought crosses your mind and you turn your body to look back at Gojo.
"What.." You stumble on your words, biting your lip and considering if this question is really worth asking him of all people. "What do you think of Choso?"
"I-" He laughs and takes his glasses off, setting them on top of his head. "Are you sure you should be asking me that?"
You roll your eyes, a shy and half-hearted smile crawling across your lips at his comment.
"I'm asking my friend. Not my previous crush- or whatever." You clarify, sipping on your drink.
He hums, looking around the room at the sea of dancing people and then back at you.
"He's... good for you." Gojo answers, surprisingly honestly and without a single ounce of ill-intent. "He looks at you like you're the only girl in the room."
His words bring a genuine smile to your face, and suddenly you regret being so angry with him. Yet, you hang on to that feeling a little longer. You had every right to after finding him with Yuki unsuspectingly, though it's clear to you that Choso didn't want things to happen that way.
Even now and even around Gojo, you don't feel like chasing that feeling of anger and turning it into revenge.
"Thank you." You say to Gojo after finishing your drink.
"Did something happen? Because I'd really like a reason to punch that asshole back." He comments with a light-hearted smile.
You sigh and place the empty glass on the table, leaning back into the comfortable cushion of the black couch.
"No, I just.." You hesitate with your words. "No, it's nothing." You say, brushing the thought away. It's finally starting to feel like your relationship with Gojo is no longer difficult to navigate. It's actually starting to feel like a genuine friendship without the feelings blurring the lines.
"Whatever it is, Y/N. I'm sure it'll pass." Gojo says, grabbing his next drink and taking a sip. "You guys looked really happy together."
You cock your head back at his unexpected response and relax your shoulders. Though you had went through all the trouble of making Gojo jealous, he seems to be devoid of any vengeful feelings. After all, you two were friends to begin with even though he toyed with your feelings like he would any other girl.
"Did you actually have feelings for me?" You ask him, tapping the side of your glass as you look down at the liquid in the cup.
He takes a moment to choose his words carefully.
"I really did." He admits. "I don't know for how long. But I just don't think I knew what to do about it."
You nod understandingly and suddenly, for some reason, wish that you had one of Choso's cigarettes to toke on.
"Maybe we can go back to normal after all this." You say to him, extending your glass towards him to toast. He chuckles at your sincere gesture and leans forward, clinking his glass against yours.
"Back to the beginning for us two then, huh?" He asks before putting the glass to his lips, an almost scheming light shined in his eyes.
"Clean slate." You hesitantly reply with a nod, The two of you take a long swig of your drink and sit back against the couch, peacefully enjoying each other's friendly company.
