Isabelle POV

"It's frustrating," I muttered, sliding the pen above my ear, "why does this formula seem so elusive?" I pondered, flipping through the pages, searching for clarity.

I let out a deep sigh, frustration evident as I shouted out an exasperated "argh," running my hand through my hair in agitation. I spun around upon hearing Adrian's laughter. "How long have you been here?" I inquired, his laughter only intensifying. "Since you arrived," he chuckled, unable to contain his amusement. "It's not funny," I protested, though his laughter persisted as I attempted to straighten my hair. Suddenly, a fluttering sensation stirred in my stomach, realizing this was a new side of Adrian I hadn't experienced before.

As he sat beside me, his question hung in the air. "Do you want help?" he asked, retrieving my pen from behind my ear. My heart raced, each beat echoing loudly in my ears. Glancing at him, I found myself captivated by his focused attention on my notebook.

His side profile revealed the sharp contours of his jawline, accentuated by his dark black hair that framed his face effortlessly. I watched as his eyes moved across the pages of my notebook, the intensity in their deep brown hue drawing me in with a magnetic pull.

As I watched him, admiration welled up within me, filling every corner of my mind. Lost in a reverie, I found myself captivated by the way his brows furrowed in concentration, his lips forming a slight curve of determination. My thoughts drifted into a realm where time seemed to stand still, as if encapsulated within a bubble where it was just him and me, amidst the quiet hum of the surroundings. Every detail about him seemed to be etched into my memory, his presence enveloping me in a comforting warmth that I never wanted to escape from.

Startled by his question and the playful tap of the pen, I shifted my gaze away, breaking free from the trance. "You seem different," I remarked softly, creating a bit of distance between us, the sudden awareness of my admiration causing a flush to rise in my cheeks.

"Different?" he echoed, seeking clarification. I nodded, feeling a rush of excitement and nerves all at once, pressing my lips together. "You mean, I'm being too nice to you now?" he inquired, his tone light but curious. With an enthusiastic nod, I crunched my nose and my cheeks popped up in a smile. He gently tapped my forehead with my pen, declaring, "That's how it'll be from now on." A wave of anticipation and happiness washed over me as I absorbed his words, wondering what this new dynamic between us would bring.

His words hung in the air, breaking the tension between us. Pouting slightly, I raised an eyebrow in response. Without a word, he gently placed the pen on the desk, his actions speaking volumes. "I know," I murmured, a smile spreading across my face, my eyes crinkling with happiness. Our eyes met, and in that moment, a silent understanding passed between us. Time seemed to stand still as we remained frozen, locked in a silent exchange. My smile faded as I noticed his gaze shift to my lips, mirroring his own. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, we leaned closer, our breaths mingling in the quiet space between us, the tension palpable.

As our breaths synchronized, each exhale a whisper against the other's skin, I could feel the intensity of the moment enveloping us. My heart quickened its pace, the rhythm matching the anticipation building within me. With every inch he closed, my pulse pounded louder in my ears, a symphony of excitement and nerves. The air crackled with energy as I watched him draw nearer, the space between us narrowing until it felt as though our souls were touching, suspended in a timeless embrace.

In a sudden realization, I backed away abruptly, the intensity of the moment fading as a wave of awkwardness washed over us. Our eyes darted away, unable to meet each other's gaze, the air heavy with tension. My hands trembled as I pressed my fingers together nervously, the weight of the situation settling in. Then, his voice broke the silence, a gentle smile gracing his lips. "Your answers are wrong," he said, his tone lightening the mood, though the underlying tension still lingered in the air.

"What?" I groaned, frustration evident as I leaned my head back against the chair. His smile remained, reassuring and patient. "Let me help you," he offered, reaching for the sheet and correcting my mistakes. I kept my gaze fixed on the ceiling, feeling overwhelmed. "It's so difficult," I groaned, my eyes shutting tightly as if trying to block out the challenge before me.

Sighing heavily, I scanned the library and caught sight of Ero, sitting some distance away, observing us. Suddenly, I stood up, my eyes locked on him, relief flooding through me. With a smile, I waved at him, murmuring, "There you are." Adrian followed my gaze, his expression shifting as he looked at Ero standing in the distance. "He's back," Adrian remarked in disappointment, joining me as we stood together.

Ero's gaze remained impassive as he watched us, his eyes lingering on me and Adrian without a hint of a smile. His expression was unreadable, and yet there was a sense of tension in the air as our eyes met. There was something in his demeanor that hinted at a complex array of emotions beneath the surface, but his face remained stoic.

As I met Ero's blank expression, a flicker of uncertainty crossed my features. Despite my attempt to maintain composure, a sense of unease crept in, evident in the slight furrow of my brow and the hesitant pause in my movements. A subtle shift in my demeanor revealed the internal struggle of deciphering his inscrutable expression, leaving me with a sense of apprehension lingering in the air.

Watching Ero turn away without a reaction left me with a gnawing sense of worry. My voice trailed off into a quiet mumble as I called out his name, but it was futile as he left the library without a backward glance. A feeling of unease settled in the pit of my stomach, wondering what might be going on beneath his outwardly calm demeanor.

As I attempted to leave the desk to check on Ero and question him about his absence, Adrian's firm grip caught my wrist, halting my movement. "I'm not done yet," he stated calmly, his gaze meeting mine. Despite my initial impulse to pursue Ero, I couldn't help but smile at Adrian's reminder. "I almost forgot," I admitted, easing back into my seat, my gaze lingering on Ero's retreating figure, my curiosity momentarily overshadowed by the task at hand.
