"RUN!" his father screamed as the Romanian vampires dragged him back.

"PAPA!" Techno cried out, trying to reach his dad as his mom tried to grab him, but the Romanian vampires pulled out their swords and pointed them at him.

"Leave, little one, before we slit your throat."

Techno shook his head. "N-no! Give me my papa back!" He was knocked to the ground and slashed across the nose, and he heard his mother's cry of worry.

"Final. Warning."

Techno scooted back, sobbing. "Tech, it's gonna be okay. Your papa will be okay." His mother picked him up, hugging him tightly. Techno looked back at his father one last time as his mother followed the crowd, carrying him out of the burning city.

Techno narrowed his eyes, digging the heel of his boot into George's chest.

"What do you mean, 'what?' Haven't your parents told you?"

George shook his head, his eyes wide. "No, no, they didn't."

Techno leaned down, pulling out a silver dagger and pointing it at George's neck. George gulped, trying to escape.

"A couple thousand years ago or so," Techno started, "out of nowhere, might I add, your kind began to hunt after my species. At first, only the men were killed. Then, after a treaty had been made to spare the women and children, you massacred all the women. And then? Then you hunted down the children. all of them. I'm the only one left. No one guessed that I'd travel east and hide in China. But you killed us. You murdered us all."

George put a finger on the dagger, shaking. "Well, no one told me, and I don't think they told Tommy, Wilbur, or Phil either. I don't know if my parents knew. I'm sorry, I really am. It's not my fault that my species wiped out yours, though, right? Maybe if you stop trying to kill us, we can help you. You can make some more of your species-"

"My species doesn't pass on vampirism like your kind does, and it's impossible for me to have kids," Techno hissed quietly, and George swallowed, glancing around.

"Well, I don't- I don't know how to help you. But please let us go. We can forgive you, and you can live with us. Be around other vampires. I know what it feels like to be alone."

Techno looked like he was contemplating, but slowly lowered the dagger and stepped away, and George was able to stand up.

"O-okay. Wow. I didn't think that would work. Uh...." He reached his arms out, and Techno quietly walked forward, hugging him stiffly. George smiled. "Alright. I'm really glad that you came around. Now, let's go talk to the others." He started walking towards the stairs, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw a flash of silver, and pivoted. Then he let out a gasp.

Techno was lunging at him, holding his dagger.

At that moment, George was pushed out of the way, and he saw the person saving him stab a silver knife into Techno's arm, and Techno collapsed.

George looked up at the figure that had saved him, and Dream smiled at him, before sighing.

"Sorry I left. I just- I didn't know what to do. I had some unresolved feelings I needed to work through. But Sap and I decided to come back, and... I'm glad I did."

George smiled, then looked back at Techno, walking forward.

Techno gritted his teeth in pain as his skin turned black, spreading out from the stab of the silver knife. The one metal that could harm vampires.

George looked down at him. "I trusted you."

"And so did we." Techno pulled the knife out, and dropped it, his hands shaking. He drew in a shaky breath. "And you turned on us. What is it that they say? History always repeats. Not to mention the fact that your kind had already killed almost the entirety of mine."

"Well, now your kind is all gone," George said softly, leaning down.

Techno laughed. It was a horrible sound. "Yeah, I've realized that. But I couldn't leave you without taking something with me."

With that, he pointed at Dream and grinned. Then the light faded out of his eyes, and he slumped on the cracked, moss-covered cobblestone of which the tower was made. George slowly looked back at Dream, hoping Techno was bluffing. George felt like he was moving through molasses when his brain caught up. Techno wasn't bluffing.

Techno's dagger was embedded in Dream's stomach.

Dream's adrenaline had finally wound down, and now he was clearly beginning to feel the pain.

"Well, fuck," he groaned, and collapsed onto his knees, clutching his abdomen. He winced and sat back against one of the crenellations.

George ran over. "NO!" he yelled, cupping Dream's face. "You can't. Don't you dare leave me again."

Dream coughed, smiling softly. "George, it's fine. I-it's gonna be okay..." The last syllable was nothing more than a whimper.

"I can't lose you again! Not after I just got you back!" George sobbed.

Dream reached up and brushed the tears off of George's cheek. "George, it's fine. As- as long as you're okay. I- I lo- v-" Dream's voice cracked, faded, and slowly, he fell into George's arms, going limp.

"NO. NO!" George held Dream's body tight, sobbing into his friend's hoodie. Feeling the warmth drain out of Dream's body. He looked up and ran his hand down Dream's face, feeling the stubble that he had grown to love so much. He looked back at Techno's body, and then back at Dream. He sobbed quietly, leaning forward, gently kissing Dream, until he no longer felt any warmth on his lips. He held Dream tight, gently removed the dagger, and hugged his body. He'd never feel his warmth again. See his smile. Hear his voice.

And then he felt a hand wrap around him, and he felt Dream shift. He looked up, eyes wide.

Dream looked down at him, his face pale, and yet there was some color on his cheeks.

"George, did you just... kiss me?" He laughed softly.

George's eyes widened, and then he smiled, hugging Dream. "You- you're not dead!"

Dream smiled. "I guess not!" The two hugged, and then kissed again. George let out a quiet sigh, leaning his forehead against Dream's.

"But- but how?" Dream frowned, and felt his face, and then his teeth. "I- I think you turned me into a vampire."

George looked up at Dream's pale skin, and then his razor-sharp canines. Then finally up at Dream's hazel eyes, which now had a ring of unusual brightness around the pupil, one of the defining characteristics for vampires.

"But- but how? I kissed you. I didn't bite you."

Dream shrugged, shifting to a better position. "Maybe vampirism can be passed through kisses?"

"But-"

Dream shushed him. "You know what? Who cares? I certainly don't. We're both alive, and he's dead."

The two vampires looked up at Techno's corpse. The two silver knives beside them, covered in blood, and a cruel grin etched on the Grecian vampire's face. A crow flew down, pecking at the corpse. George smiled, leaning against Dream.

Things were going to be okay.
