Having informed the adults, the day has come for Roka to announce the brother she chose to be engaged to
Reiji and Roka are reading books together in the library when Reiji breaks the silence
"So Roka, I've heard that you have decided on a fiancé" he says, not looking away from his book
"Yes, I have" Roka nods bashfully
"Mother told me that you will make the announcement tomorrow"
"Indeed, that is the only time the king and my parents will be available"
"So who did you choose?"
"That is confidential until tomorrow, you just have to wait" Roka giggles
Reiji finally gazes away from his book, then looks at Roka
"I hope you have made the right choice" he says
"Of course I have" the female vampire beams
'In fact, I don't believe that there is any other right choice for me'

The very next day, everyone has gathered in the common room. Karlheinz is present, Cordelia and Beatrix are present, and Roka's parents are present. The six brothers line up in front of Roka and the adults
Everyone is clearly tense, awaiting the announcement
"So Roka, we take it you have made your choice" Karlheinz says
"Yes, I have" the young vampire nods
It's been clear for awhile now, Roka knows who she wants to be engaged to. There was only one brother who moved her heart from the start
She slightly glance at Shu
'The other Sakamaki brothers are nice, however, what I feel for Shu is different'
They spent many hours together. He knows what he feels for Roka, he fell for her kind and caring nature. And he knows what Roka feels for him, yet Shu is still nervous
'Don't be nervous, Roka feels the same as me. She'll choose me, she'll choose me'
"I have chosen Shu as my fiancé" she says shyly
Shu sighs in relief. It's like a weight was lifted
"Perfect. Then we'll arrange an engagement party right away" the king says
Everyone but Cordelia and Reiji are clapping in delight, as they, instead, clap with ill feelings
Shu is asked to stand with Roka, which he happily does so
"Thanks for choosing me" he whispers to her
"Of course, who else am I supposed to choose? As far as I can see, you are the obvious choice" she says as she sweetly smile at her new fiancé
At that moment, the two felt a surge of affection and love for each other
"Ayato, Kanato, Laito!" Cordelia angrily calls for her sons
"Coming mother!" the triplets say as they follow their mother out of the room
There's no doubt that she will be scolding for failing to impress Roka
"Shu, let's discuss matters regarding the engagement" the king says
Shu rather not as he wants to spend time with Roka, but as this involves his future with her, he obliged
"I'll be right back" he says before following the two set of parents out of the door
"Mm" Roka nods
Only Subaru, Reiji, and Roka remains
Subaru approaches his friend
"Congratulations Roka, I'm happy for you" Subaru smiles
"Thank you Subaru"
Reiji approaches them with a serious look on his face
"Reiji" Roka smiles, however Reiji's face remains stern
"Roka, can I talk to you about something?" he says
"Sure. What is it Reiji?"
"Can we talk somewhere private?" he says as he slightly glance at Subaru
"Go ahead Roka, I'll wait for you here" Subaru says in consideration
"Alright" Roka nods as she follows Reiji out of the room
They proceed to Reiji's room
"So what do you wish to talk about Reiji?" Roka asks
"Why did you choose Shu?" he asks in a serious tone
"Because I fell in love with him" Roka says with a blush
This annoys Reiji, someone who's supposed to be her closest friend is with someone he despises the most
"Why did you? With him of all people?!"
Roka notices the different tone in his voice
'What has gotten into him?'
"Whoa. What is up with you Reiji?"
"Of all people, why Shu? Why him?!" he says loudly, which surprises Roka
Reiji has never raised his tone at her like this before
"Listen, Shu and I have been spending a lot of time together and we just clicked. He has the kindest heart and the sweetest soul" Roka says, almost gushing
'Yes, he showed me to the light and became my prince'
Reiji clenches his fists
"He's a good for nothing slacker. He's lazy and makes trouble for everyone around him especially our mother. He'll only make trouble for you too!" Reiji says
Roka snaps
"How dare you say all that about Shu!" she exclaims, catching Reiji off guard
Roka is gentle and doesn't like to yell
"Shu is kind and sweet. He cares about me and he treats me right!" she exclaims
"Open your eyes Roka, you're too good for him!"
"No! In a matter of fact, it's the other way around!"
"He just does what he wants without consideration for others, he'll only hold you back. I'm telling you this for your own good!"
"Talk about the pot calling the kettle black" Roka says this almost in a whisper
"Unlike you, he cares about what I want rather than forcing me what he wants!" she exclaims
Not listening to Roka's argument, Reiji continues to berate Shu
'And to think I thought you were nice'
"You're the worst! I hate you!" Roka yells before storming out of Reiji's room
Reiji is glued to his spot, staring at the door. At that moment, he knew, his relationship with Roka will never be the same again
And he was right, ever since that day, the two of them would argue and glare at eachother every chance they get and as the years go by, their relationship becomes rockier and rockier. The once dear friends have turned into enemies
