Miguel raised his gun and pointed it at Sarah, she was trembling and at any moment he was going to shoot the girl.

"I'm not your enemy, I'm here to help you," Sarah said while raising both hands.

"I don't believe you! You're an American! You're an enemy of our people! You deserve to die!" Miguel said loudly as he focused on Sarah's face again, but he stopped when he saw the girl's eyes. Eyes that seem to talk. Eyes of a clear conscience.

After a while, Miguel lowered his rifle.

"Thank you and you came back to your senses," Sarah said, Sarah was going to touch Miguel's wound to check the condition but the Filipino soldier stopped her.

"I don't need help from an enemy," said Miguel.

"Whether it's an enemy or an ally, it's my responsibility to help those in need. It's my job to treat the wounded," Sarah answered.

It immediately approached Miguel and examined it without saying. Miguel didn't do anything but to watch. He was just looking at her beautiful appearance. The thin lips, blue eyes, and white complexion. In his entire life, this was the only time he saw an American woman face to face.

"What's your name?" Miguel asked.

"SARAH. SARAH BELLINGS' answered the girl.

"Miguel. MIGUEL DELA FUENTE" said Miguel.

"Miguel. What a beautiful name. You are very brave," Sarah said with a smile.

"Why are you injured, I saw you unconscious while I was walking here, I was looking for medicinal plants that can be studied." Sarah's language.

"Your kind of people chased me, they shot me and I'm still alive," said Miguel.

Sarah fell silent upon hearing this.

"I'm sorry, I know you're going through a lot because of this war. I don't even know when it will end, but you can hope that everything will be fine if you just give up," the girl said

"Surrender? Surrender for what? You occupy us! why should we be the ones surrendering our land!? You should leave our country!" Miguel spoke hostilely as if his mood had changed.

"We are helping you! We are forcing you to build again from being conquered by the Spaniards. We have no other intentions, but to guide you, especially in other countries that also want to conquer your land" replied Sarah.

Miguel and Sarah were having a heated conversation. "You are not helping, Americans have other intentions," said Miguel. Sarah, on the other hand, was trying to reason with him. "If you think of us as enemies, we are one of those who helped you to be free from the Spanish occupation. Not all Americans are as bad as you think Miguel," she said.

There was a brief moment of silence before Sarah took a step back and returned with a basket of fruit. "Eat to get stronger, I'm sorry, and that's all I've seen around here," she said, offering Miguel some fruit. Miguel, still rushing his anger, ignored her and went to sleep.

Feeling disheartened, Sarah left again to find clean water. Little did she know that Miguel was hungry, and he immediately ate the fruits that were left on the floor. He ate as if he hadn't eaten in days and was grateful for the food. After a while, he saw Sarah, who was just behind the tree and was smiling at him. "You will eat it too, you have many reasons," she said, laughing.

Miguel, sitting on the ground, refused to thank Sarah for bringing him food and medicine. However, she promised to come back the next day to check on him and bring more supplies. Miguel couldn't explain why, but Sarah's charisma made him smile every time he saw her face.

The following day, Sarah returned with food and medicine and they happily talked. Over the days, they gradually got to know each other. Miguel shared with her the painful story of his life, how his parents and siblings were killed by the Spaniards when he was young. Sarah sympathized with him and expressed her condolences.

Miguel, curious about Sarah's life, asked her about it. She told him that her mother had died during childbirth, leaving her father to raise her alone. He was a good businessman who supplied ammunition to the armies but was also kind and loving to her. Sarah had always wanted to study medicine and help the wounded, believing that human life is very important.

However, their meetings were not without challenges. When Sarah returned to the American base, James, one of the soldiers, asked her where she had been. He was arrogant and demanded an explanation. Sarah politely told him that she had been taking care of something and attempted to leave, but James grabbed her arm and insisted that she talk to him. Sarah managed to convince him to let her go but had to endure his unpleasant behavior.

Despite the obstacles, Sarah continued to care for Miguel and bring him supplies. They formed a special bond, and Miguel found himself looking forward to her visits. Sarah, in turn, was happy to see him getting better and stronger every day.

As the war rages on, amid all the chaos and destruction, Miguel finds a glimmer of hope in the form of Sarah. He gradually falls in love with her as the days go by, drawn to her kind and caring nature. Despite his eventual recovery, Sarah never leaves their meeting place, and they continue to see each other every morning until night, greeting each other with happiness and warmth. In Sarah's presence, Miguel feels like he has found a refuge from the harsh reality of the war, a place of rest and new hope.

Deeply grateful for Sarah's kindness, Miguel thanks her softly one day, surprising her with his words of gratitude. Overwhelmed with emotion, Sarah hugs the man tightly, feeling the warmth of their connection. Even though Miguel is on the opposing side, Sarah doesn't hesitate to help those in need, treating a local Filipino even though he is seen as an enemy. This act of compassion only deepens Miguel's admiration for Sarah, as he sees her as someone who defies the stereotypes he has about Americans.

One day, while Miguel is fishing, he spots a beautiful flower and picks it for Sarah. When they meet again, he presents it to her, and her smile lights up her face. Touched by Miguel's kindness, Sarah gives him a gift - a bullet. Miguel is confused at first, but Sarah explains that her father owns a bullet factory and has always told her to give one to a soldier who runs out of bullets. She sees Miguel as someone who deserves her gift because of his kindness.

Overwhelmed with joy, Miguel hugs Sarah tightly, feeling a deep sense of connection with her. At that moment, he realizes that he has fallen in love with Sarah.

As he looked into Sarah's eyes, his heart began to beat faster with anticipation. He could feel the same nervous excitement in her, and he knew that they were both feeling the same way. Slowly, he leaned in closer to her, his face only inches away from hers. He closed his eyes, and his lips brushed against hers in a gentle caress. As they kissed, their hearts beat as one, and all the world around them faded away, leaving only the two of them lost in the moment. It was a sweet, tender kiss, full of hope and promise for the future.
