It was a quiet and dark night when Sarah left to run away. Her decision to be with the person she loves the most, Miguel, is complete.
She quickly ran past the American guards and left the camp. She knew it was dangerous but there was no other way.
While she was running, she heard as if someone was chasing her. When she turned around, she was surprised that James was behind her and seemed to be chasing her.
"James? But why?" She said strangely.
"Sarah!! Do you think you can escape from me? I will not allow you to be separated from me! If I can't be with you, I'd better end you!" James said in an angry voice.
Sarah ran even faster but the American was faster than her and cornered her.
"James, please let me go" Sarah cried.
"Leave you alone? Are you crazy? I won't allow it!" The soldier spoke angrily as he pointed his gun at Sarah.
When Sarah tried to run, James shot her causing her to hit the shoulder and fall a high hill.
James looked at Sarah to make sure what happened here but he didn't see the girl anymore so he went back to the camp.
As James made his way back to the American camp, he was taken aback by the sudden commotion that greeted him. He soon discovered that their camp was under attack by a group of Filipinos, led by none other than Miguel. The situation quickly escalated into a fierce clash between the Filipinos and the Americans, with Miguel being determined to find Sarah in the camp.
The Filipinos had the upper hand in the battle, and the situation became even more dire when General Armando and his soldiers arrived on the scene. With the odds stacked against them, the American soldiers were forced to retreat and flee the camp. Miguel continued to search for Sarah, hoping to find her in the chaos, but his efforts were in vain.
As he searched for his love, Miguel's voice could be heard crying out in anguish, "Sarah! Where are you? Where are you, my love?" His desperation and fear were palpable.
In his frenzied state, Miguel even caught sight of James and angrily chased him down. The two men exchanged gunfire, but James managed to escape Miguel's wrath. Frustrated and consumed with anger, Miguel could do nothing but punch the ground in frustration and despair.
The battle of Guiguinto was a long and arduous one, but in the end, the Filipinos emerged victorious. They managed to recapture and restore the place, which was a significant achievement for them. However, this victory came at a cost - they lost many of their people who were captured by the Americans during the battle. To make matters worse, the Americans had been occupying the province for a long time, and the Filipinos were fed up with their presence. As a result, they expelled all foreigners from the province, which was a massive success for them.
Despite the joyous celebrations all around, Miguel couldn't help but miss Sarah, who was nowhere to be found. He was deeply saddened by the thought that she might be dead, and he would never see her again. Miguel's friend, Tomas, noticed his despair and tried to console him, but Miguel's voice was low as he replied that he had no idea about Sarah's whereabouts.
In the coming days, the Filipino rebels continued their fight against the American forces to liberate other areas under their occupation. Miguel held onto the hope that he would be reunited with Sarah one day, but as the days passed, he began to harbor deep resentment towards the Americans. His heart was hardened by the atrocities he saw and the loss of his fellow countrymen.
One day, while on a mission, Miguel and Tomas caught some American soldiers. Miguel's anger and hatred towards them boiled over, and he punished them mercilessly. Tomas had to intervene to stop him from inflicting more harm. Tomas reminded Miguel that they had a mission to accomplish, and his anger could affect their future battles.
Miguel left in a huff, leaving Tomas behind without a word. His heart was full of rage, and he was consumed by his hatred towards the Americans.
In the wake of Miguel's intense anger, his initial plans for war against the Americans were drastically affected. The overwhelming emotional turmoil he experienced caused him to become impulsive and inattentive to his plans. This led to a lack of foresight and a failure to consider the consequences of his actions. As a result, when the battle of Kawit, Cavite broke out on September 9, 1900, the Filipino forces were able to regain control of one of the areas previously held by the Americans.
However, due to Miguel's negligence and lack of strategic planning, the Americans quickly demanded a response and initiated a counteroffensive. This sudden turn of events caught Miguel and his comrades off guard and resulted in the loss of many Filipino lives in the battle. Despite their valiant efforts, the Filipinos were unable to turn the tide of the conflict, and Miguel was forced to order a retreat.
When General Armando confronted Miguel about the disastrous outcome of the battle, the young commander was left speechless and deeply saddened by the gravity of the situation. Despite his overwhelming sense of guilt and remorse, Miguel knew that he had to learn from his mistakes and work harder to develop better strategies for future battles.
In a remote area, nestled amidst the lush greenery and tranquil surroundings, lived a Filipino couple named Indang and Jose. Despite having lost their children in the war, they had managed to find happiness in their lives away from the chaos of the outside world.
One day, as Indang was working inside the house, she called out to Jose. "Jose, take the bucket, and let's go draw water from the river," she said.
"Alright, I'll be there in a minute, Indang," replied Jose.
Just then, they heard the voice of a woman. "I'm with you," she said, and Indang recognized the voice.
"Oh, don't! leave it to us," Indang pleaded, but the woman insisted on joining them at the river.
As they walked towards the river, the three of them were lost in their thoughts. Jose noticed the woman holding a beautiful flower and commented, "That flower is something. Did your beloved give it to you?"
The woman smiled and replied, "Yes, he did. He's a wonderful man."
To everyone's surprise, the woman speaking was none other than Sarah herself.
