Minjeong strode through the hotel lobby, heading towards the hotel restaurant, thinking about the food he's about to eat. He hasn't eaten proper food since they arrived here last night.
"Min, hold on," Yizhuo chased after him, panting. "She's here. Somi is here."
Minjeong's eyes widened in shock. Somi, her ex-fiancee who broke off their engagement. Somi, his model ex. Somi, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Somi, who once wanted him. Somi, well, you get my point. (Somi is a literal goddess) "Where is she? Yizhuo , where is she?"
Yizhuo pointed to the restaurant. Just where he was headed originally. He thanked Yizhuo and dismissed him.
Minjeong stopped in front of the mirror by the restaurant's entrance, looking at himself.
"Don't get emotional," he said to himself. He entered the restaurant with confidence, scanning the vicinity for his ex. He saw her sitting by the corner. Still beautiful, he thought. Somi looked up from her phone, locking eyes with Minjeong. A smile plastered on her face, slowly standing up.
"Somi, it's nice to see you here. What business do you have in this area?" Minjeong asked. Gyuri gave his cheek a quick kiss.
"Can't I just come see you? I miss you," she smiled sweetly.
Minjeong squeezed his brows together. "Look, you broke off the engagement. And that was 2 years ago. Why are you still chasing after me? I'm not some kind of toy that you can toss around and pick up whenever you want, Somi."
"You don't have to be so rude about it. All I wanted is another chance. We were good together. Remember the time we had in Boracay? You were so beastly that you ruined sex for me." she touched his face. Her face getting closer, lips threatening to touch.
Minjeong pushed her softly, "Last I remembered, you said you were tired of me and my hectic work. My unability to give you my time, so why now?"
"Oh honey, you'll come back crawling to me. Didn't you say I was the best you ever had?" she retorted.
"Listen-" Minjeong said.
Suddenly a voice interrupted them, "What's going on, love?"
Minjeong turned around so quickly he almost lost his balance , "Hey, Karina. I, uh, meet Somi," Now, why did he introduce Karina to Somi, he didn't know. Perhaps it's a good etiquette, or perhaps to show Somi that he is not available anymore. "Somi, this is Karina. My, uh fiancé"
"Hello, Somi. Nice to meet you, " she offered her hand.
Somi stood dumbfounded, staring at Karina. "You're engaged to Karina Yu? Is that why.. oh.. I see. Nice to meet you, Miss Yu. But, um, I better get going now. Um, okay, I, uh," Somi stammered.
Once Somi is out of sight. Karina turned to Minjeong, "Turns out you're the one who needed my help. I didn't want to meddle at first, but from your body language, you seemed uncomfortable. Let's sit first. I'm starving"
Minjeong smiled weakly, pulling the chair for Karina, "Yeah, thank you. She was my ex. Bit of a narcissist that."
"You know, I can't help but to ask. From your accent, you're not a local, aren't you?" Karina asked.
Minjeong sat down and hummed, "Yeah, I'm from across the pond. Here for work and personal."
"So, what's with you? What are you doing here?" Minjeong's turn to ask.
"Have a filming here nearby. This hotel is the closest to the location," Karina said while placing her bag on the table.
Minjeong opened the menu book laid in front of them, "So, you're an actress, huh? Any film of yours that I should watch?"
Karina glanced at him, "You've never seen me play? That's kind of new."
Minjeong flashed her a small smile, "Sorry to disappoint. But I simply don't have any free time to watch movies or dramas."
"I'm rather starving, Miss Yu. Would you like to order now?" he asked again. This time locking eyes with Karina. Suddenly, he could feel like he's out of breath. Like, Karina is stealing his breath away.
Karina nodded, "Yeah, me too. But, um, what are you going to eat?"
He called the waiter, "Can I get sparkling water and grilled lobster, please? What do you want to eat, Miss Yu? The cream dessert here is to die for"
"Ah, I'll get the same as you. But with a glass of champagne, and maybe the dessert you mentioned," Karina glanced at him.
They talked for hours on, laughing like they were old mates.
"It's good to have someone to talk to. It gets lonely here over time with no new friends, Frankly, I am bored being stuck here with my assistant and manager, " Karina lamented.
"Well, lucky for you, you have a company for... 5 months and 28 days." Minjeong said while staring at his watch.
Karina stared at him, "That's oddly specific. But hey, a company is a company. And I'm not complaining. But I have to bid you goodnight now. I have an early morning tomorrow. Thank you for the dinner, Minjeong. I promise the next meal is my treat."
He watched Karina go. "She's very pretty, you know" A voice startled Minjeong.
"Holy mother of fuck. Why would you scare me like that, Yizhuo?"
Yizhuo laughed, " I was sitting right there." He pointed 2 tables over. "Bet you didn't notice me because you're too lost in her eyes." He teased.
"Shut up, or I'll cut your wage"
"Hah, you're blushing!" Yuri mocked. Bit of siblings banter, you get me?
