Without them realizing, 3 months had already passed. Leaving Minjeong with only 3 months left.
He's back in the office since a month ago. Karina carried on like the dinner didn't happen. Yunjin kept on trying to get closer to Karina. Jennie is still in her honeymoon phase with Jisoo. Same goes to Yizhuo and Aeri. And as always, Minjeong is left all alone.
He started stashing coke in his office and hidden some in the library at home. For emergency, he said. But he haven't used any of it.
All of them were having breakfast when Minjeong's phone rang. He excused himself from the table and walked towards the living room.
"Hello, Ollie." he answered.
His uncle had passed away. He succumbed to a heart attack instead of the tumour. Minjeong couldn't focus on listening at that moment. He had a video call with his uncle and his father last night. He had been spending every weekend for a tea time with his uncle, without Jennie and Yizhuo's knowledge.
"Ollie, you're joking right? He was fine last night. We even discussed about throwing a company party. If this is a joke, it's not funny." he yelled into his phone.
Jennie came running after hearing Minjeong's yelling.
He passed the phone to Jennie, "Tell him, it's not funny."
He sat down on the couch, tears threatening to come out.
"Hey, Ollie. What's up? Wait what? When? Have you called father? Okay. Where are you now? At home? Okay, we will be right there." Jennie stayed calm, ending the phone call. Who knows about the turmoil in her. She had to be calm.
She passed the phone back to Minjeong, "Pack up. We'll go soon."
Jennie walked back to the dining area, calling to both Yunjin and Yizhuo. She told them about the news. Shocked plastered on their faces. Yizhuo ran upstairs, packing only the essentials.
Jisoo, concerned by the scene, slowly asked, "What happened?"
"Our uncle passed away. Do you guys want to come or stay here?" Jisoo looked at Karina, "We will go with you."
Yunjin stayed with Minjeong downstairs. Keeping him company from afar. Minjeong held his head in his arms, almost like a fetal position but sitting."Not again. Not again." he kept on repeating to himself.
"It was a heart attack, Minjeong. You couldn't predict that," Yunjin sighed. Minjeong kept the same position until Yizhuo tapped on his shoulders.
"Let's go," Yizhio, panting from the sudden exercise.
With the traffic, it took them less than two hours to arrive there. Minjeong opened the car door before Yizhuo even manage to put the car in park. He pushed the heavy entrance door, and started running upstairs to his uncle's room. With heavy steps, he walked into the room. The family doctor and Ollie turned their heads at him.
"What happened?" Minjeong asked, demanding answers.
"He suddenly collapsed on his way to the bathroom. He had a weak heart. Apparently he won the bad genetics in life," Ollie looked at him guiltily.
"Oh," he sat into the chair next to the bed. The same chair he sat in last week, but now without his uncle making lame jokes.
He touched his uncle's left hand. Cold to the touch.
"He's really gone, huh?" Minjeong laughed slightly.
"Old man made a promise but he didn't even get to fulfill it," he continued.
Jennie entered the room, trying to catch her breath with the rest tailing her back. She composed herself and greeted both Ollie and the doctor. Minjeong kept himself out of the conversation. He continued to stare at his uncle's lifeless body.
