"Will you go out with me?"
"Okay!"
Xiao was a fool. After so many years spent together he should have known better, Hu Tao was even more of a fool than him! He had spent a lot of time thinking this over, he thought everything would go fine like in these romantic novels she always read and kept bugging him about, but maybe she had read too much of these that her head was now filled with butterflies.
"What are we doing here..."
"Ah-! I almost got it!"
Hu Tao was whining in front of a claw machine as the plush she was trying to get fell down on the side again. Xiao was leaning against it with his arms crossed, wondering what he did wrong in his previous life for things to be at this stage. He had asked her if she wanted to date him and he thought he had been clear enough about it.
"Why are we at an arcade..."
"You said you wanted to go out, right?"
"Yes- but- What I meant is-"
"So the most obvious thing to do is go on a date, isn't it?"
She turned to him with a wide smile seeming to say more. There it was again, this strange, but not in a bad way, atmosphere around her. It was something that mysteriously drew people to her and Xiao was lucky enough that Hu Tao let him be closer than anyone else.
"You're right."
"Always am."
She chuckled before letting out a gasp. Xiao looked at her suddenly crouching before jumping up in front of him. She was holding something in her hands and it took him a few seconds to realize that it was a cat plush with green fur and a grumpy look.
"Is that what you wanted...?"
Xiao wasn't exactly keen on fashion but he had to admit that its style was rather... peculiar.
"Mhm, don't you think it's cute? It kinda looks like you."
She was so happy just because of a plush that looks like him...?
Xiao frowned but he wasn't really angry, there was no way he could be angry at her after all.
"Can I.. Can I hold your hand..?"
He felt his cheeks flush from this ridiculous request but Hu Tao paid it no mind and grasped his hand, intertwining their fingers together.
"Of course! Let's go back home, grandpa said he bought some new tea and wanted to hear your thoughts on it!"
"Alright."
