Joni had to get up early this morning, which wasn't an easy task considering she'd stayed at the hotel bar until it closed. She was the guest on some breakfast radio show, but she was looking forward to it. Any excuse to talk about music.
The guys were all together, they were going to listen into it, and they had some things to ask Rob. He and Sadie left before the others did, she said she was going to bed and then suddenly Rob disappeared too. Joni didn't have the time to ask her this morning, but she had a million questions just waiting for the right moment.
For the mornings radio show, Joni got to pick all of the songs and talk about why she likes them so much. There were some of her own, but also a lot of the ones she grew up listening to. The guy running the show was called Adam, he also seemed really sweet so she was excited to spend the next hour there in that studio.
'That was Red by Joni Lennox, who is here in the studio with us this morning hosting the show,' Adam said, 'She's choosing our songs this morning, setting off the day to a good start whilst she kills time before the second night here on her Dinner For One tour, which is sold out, by the way, congratulations!'
'Thank you! And thanks so much for having me! I'm so excited to be here and oh my god, I know! It's literally sold out, I can't believe that, genuinely, I can't wrap my head around it, but I'm so grateful, it's so nice to be here, everyone is lovely.' Joni said with a smile on her face.
'We were at your show last night, it was incredible, you are so talented. Very few artists are just as good vocally live than they are in the studio but that was really incredible.' Adam said. 'The way you controlled the atmosphere was just amazing, and genuinely, one of the best live acts I've seen in a while. What's touring like for you?'
'Aw thanks! I really appreciate that. Uh, touring is just one of my favourite things ever. Live music has always been so special to me, my dad and I used to go to gigs together all the time,we still do when I'm home, and so yeah, from a young age I've always just been in awe of the atmosphere that comes from being at a venue listening to music, seeing people sing along. A room full of strangers all together to listen to something they all collectively love.' Joni smiled. 'I love the community, I always have, and so every record I make is to playlive and it's just so special to me, I really love it with my whole heart.'
'I think that definitely comes across, you seem so passionate and yeah, live music is a beautiful thing isn't it?' Adam agreed. 'Anyway, wanna introduce the next song?'
'Yes! Okay so this next song is by a band called inhaler. I am currently on tour with them and they're so talented, to share the stage with them every night is such a blessing because they're just fantastic.' Joni said. 'This is one of my favourites from them, it's called A Night On The Floor.'
