Y/N's POV:

"Shit shit shit SHIT!" I exclaimed, blood trickling down my face from the wound on my head, bleeding into my hair.

I ran, holding the top of my head, basically collapsing into an alleyway; I let my body relax against the cold brick wall. After about a minute of the noises and screams growing more and more distant, I decided it was safe enough to sit down for a minute.

I slid down the wall, the brick scraping my back, I didn't care about that right now. I brought my knees closer up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them, burying my face in my knees as tears began to stream down my face.

My parents and the rest of my family had been killed in the extermination just 30 minutes earlier.. some killed directly by an angel, some just crushed by the rubble.

"I..I don't understand, we were always safe during the exterminations, we had weapons, we had barricades, I reinforced them so many times. How the hell did this even happen?" I cried quietly to myself.

"Fuck you heaven. Fuck your stupid angels, your stupid little perfect world. You don't understand how many people you've hurt. You don't even care." I sobbed, my sadness slowly turning into anger as I slowly began to stand, using the wall for support as I was extremely lightheaded.

I stood leaning against the wall, looking down at my feet as another tear creeped its way down my face.

"Why did this have to happen.."

"Y/N, did you reinforce the barricades?" Mom said, picking up a gun.

"Yes mom, you've asked me like 40 times now" I said, annoyed, as I picked up my knife.

"I'm just trying to make sure we'll survive." She said, loading up her gun.

"Mom, how long has our family been able to survive the yearly exterminations?" I said, tilting my head towards her.

"Over 100 years, I know, I know. I still worry" She said, sighing.

"Well, don't. We'll be fine" I assured her, throwing my knife up and catching it.

"Oh come on, don't get all distraught and bothered on me! We always fight well, and not to mention, it's fun as fuck" My twin sister, Chloe, said as she came up behind us with her spear in hand.

I chuckled, turning around to face her "Says the one who always ends up crying at the end of the extermination" I said, smirking at her.

She gasped, acting offended "I do not!"

I chuckled "'mOm! DaD! i AlMoSt DiEd!'" I mocked her.

"Oh shut up, jackass" She said with a playful eyeroll, walking in front of me to go talk to dad.

I chuckled, shaking my head. I looked back at mom, who now had a soft smile on her face.

"Ready everyone?" Dad said, getting ready to fight.

"Ready!" We all said in unison.

____-Flashback over-____

I opened my eyes, my crying finally ceasing as I reluctantly pushed myself off the wall. Taking a second to steady myself before slowly walking out of the alleyway.

"I miss them already.." I said quietly as I crossed the street, looking down as I walked.

I stepped up onto the sidewalk on the other side, tiredly lifting my head, my eyes half-lidded in an exhausted manner.

I looked around, finding a rickety old bench. Deciding it was good enough to rest, I dropped myself onto it, laying down on my side and letting my eyes flutter shut. This part of town wasn't very populated, it was safer.

I groaned, as the wooden bench wasn't the most comfortable thing to be sleeping on, but I dealt with it.

Eventually, after what seemed like forever, I began to drift off, my body relaxing completely as the veil of sleep washed over me..
