CHAPTER 7

I broke the hug quickly when I realized what I was doing.

ㅡSorry. I just had a nightmare just now. ㅡI ran my hand through my hair.ㅡWhy are you here?

ㅡI came to tell you that dinner is readyㅡhe said.

ㅡAh... I'll just take a shower and go. If you want to come in...ㅡ I didn't wait for him to respond, I just ran to my room, grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom. I began to condemn myself in my thoughts for having been so impulsive as to hug Erix.

I took a warm shower and put on a blue sweater and jeans. I combed my hair and tied it into a loose bun.

I left the bathroom and found Erix sitting on the couch, looking at his cell phone. It was then that I realized I didn't know where I put mine.

ㅡErix, have you seen my cell phone around here?ㅡI asked, while looking through my backpack.

ㅡI didn't see it. I'll call you here,” he said and nodded. I went to my room to store my backpack, and returned to the living room.

ㅡ "Guǐ"?? ㅡ He turned the cell phone towards me in disbelief, where "鬼" was written on the screen, which means "ghost". I smiled and took his cell phone.

We left the house and walked silently to his. When we arrived, Erix opened the door and we entered.

I sat down and Raya sat next to me. I looked at the walls of that room, and saw a photo of Erix with Alice and a man and a woman next to them. I was curious to know if those were her parents, but Alice arrived with the dishes before I could ask anything. I decided not to do it, as I didn't want to be too invasive.

I looked at the dishes and saw that they hadtángcù lǐjǐ (sweet and sour pork), Zhajiangmian (noodles with fried sauce) and Ma Po Tofu. Alice placed bowls of rice in front of us, chopsticks and spoons.

ㅡYou rarely make Chinese food. ㅡ Erix she said when Alice sat next to her.

ㅡToday we have a Chinese guest, so I decided to do itㅡhe said. I just watched it with a nostalgic smile on my face. ㅡ And that smile there, huh? ㅡ She smiled while looking at me.

ㅡIt's been a while since I've eaten with a lot of peopleㅡI replied and she nodded. Erix seemed to analyze my face. That left me a little disconcerted.

We started to eat. That food was so good that my eyes closed with every bite I took. Suddenly, a memory came to me...

ㅡMa, this is delicious! ㅡ I pointed to the Ma Po Tofu dish. Ma laughed and Ba added some more tofu to my bowl of rice.

ㅡ I'm glad you liked it, daughter. I will cook this for you when you askㅡ I said and she ran her hand through my hair.

After Ba's death, Ma made almost no Chinese food for us to eat. It seemed that somehow she wanted to forget everything we experienced in China. But the fact that she was always busy with her work meant that we had less dinner together. But I was used to it, even though I felt lonely most of the time.

We finished dinner and, after thanking Alice for the food, I left and Erix left with me.

ㅡYou didn't need to accompany me, my house is right thereㅡI said and he shrugged.

ㅡA thief will come and rob youㅡhe said and I could tell he was being sarcastic because of the past event.

ㅡLook, in my defense anyone would think you were a thief who was trying to break into the house. ㅡI put a strand of hair that came out of the bun behind my ear.

When we arrived at the door of my house, I turned to Erix. He had his hands in the pocket of his black hoodie. His hair swayed due to the breeze that hit it.

ㅡWhat? Am I that pretty for you to stare at me? ㅡ he arched his eyebrow.

ㅡBye.ㅡI grimaced and turned to go inside. However, Erix pulled my arm, preventing me from doing so. That almost made my heart stop.ㅡWhat...

ㅡ Don't cry anymore. You look ugly cryingㅡhe said, seriously.

I frowned and hit his arm so he would let me go. I entered my house, closed the door and leaned my back against it.

Damn, Faye, you keep doing shameful things in front of him!

I slapped my forehead and went straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

Saturday, half past one in the afternoon. I was on the way to the ice cream shop where Adrian told us to go.

And there he was, with his hands in his jacket pocket, looking around, seeming to be looking for something.

ㅡWow, you look beautifulㅡhe said, smiling. I held a grimace. I was normal, I was just wearing a flowery dress and my hair was down. Nothing else.

We entered the ice cream shop and I was surprised by the decor. Everything was pink inside and on the cushioned benches there were some teddy bears that made the place even cuter.

ㅡA Neapolitan ice cream with chocolate sauce.ㅡI was so distracted by the decorations that I hadn't even noticed the waitress at our table. ㅡWhat about you, Faye?

ㅡSame.ㅡ The waitress nodded and left. ㅡHow come I didn't know this place existed?

I continued sweeping my eyes around the ice cream shop to hide my slight discomfort, until I saw someone standing in the doorway.
