Monday. I was at school, already sitting in my seat and waiting for the sociology teacher to start her class.

Erix hadn't arrived and didn't even know if he would come. After Saturday, we had no more contact and I was too embarrassed to talk to him.

ㅡGood morning, everyone!ㅡMr. Willows said, after getting up and picking up the brush to write on the board. Her hair shined due to the excess gel that was used to hold the strands in the bun. She wore a red dress, with puffed sleeves and a v at the collar. Sr. Willows was more stylish than the other teachers. And to think that many people try to bring her and the philosophy professor together... They would make a great couple. They are both beautiful, intelligent and interested in the same thing.ㅡGrab your materials and let's do some activities. They're not difficult, but I want you to do them carefully. It's a matter of proof.

The door opened, revealing who I least wanted to see today: Erix. He entered without even asking for permission and went straight to his seat. He lowered his head, avoiding eye contact with anyone.

I found this act strange. But of course I didn't go until he asked, Zara and her friends had already gone to play this role.

ㅡWhat happened, Erix?ㅡHer voice was thinner and more irritating than usual.

ㅡ Leave me alone, Zara. ㅡ Erix, he replied, harshly.

I pursed my lips, holding back a laugh.

ㅡOkay, honey. But I'll be there if you want to talk.” He pointed to her table and left Erix's side.

Zara said she had everything she wanted, but I guarantee she didn't have self-love.

I shook my head no and returned my attention to the class.

...

I was walking through the school hallways, which were full of teenagers because of recess.

Today I decided that I wouldn't stay in the same corner, but would go to another one a little further away.

However, I hear someone calling me. I looked back and found Zara and her two followers staring at me with their arms crossed.

Excellent. Now, not even during the break can I have peace anymore.

ㅡStay away from Erix!ㅡZara said and Maeve and Hazel nodded.

ㅡBut I'm not even close to him.ㅡ I said, innocently.

ㅡDo you think we haven't seen you two together these days? What's your problem, girl? He is mine!

Seriously, it was embarrassing me.

ㅡZara, are you really bothering me because of a boy? Ah, be ashamed of that face of yours!

Unexpectedly, Zara stepped forward and hit me in the face. I opened my mouth, in disbelief.

I took a deep breath and smiled. I couldn't do that again.

The three looked at me, confused, since I didn't retaliate, but smiled. Without saying a word, I turned my back to them and started walking again.

You must be thinking that I was stupid not to fight back, but in fact I didn't because I didn't want to bring more trouble to my mother.

The truth is two years ago almost the same thing happened today. An annoying girl and her followers chased me and hit me. However, I didn't know how to be calm at that moment. I fought back so hard at them that the principal was called and I was expelled from school. This happened in Canada. As I had done Taekwondo from the age of six until I was fifteen, I knew how to defend myself, however, that time, I ended up getting out of control.

And this caused problems for my mother, resulting in us moving there, as no school in that place wanted to accept me, and my mother's reputation had gone down the drain, because those girls were from families of great importance in that region.

I ended up going to the library. There, at least, there would be a little peace.

Well, that's what I thought...

ㅡ Why is your cheek red? ㅡ Erix, she sat next to me, keeping her eyes on my right cheek.

ㅡOne of your fans. They're pretty fierce, you know?ㅡI used an ironic tone.

ㅡFans?ㅡHe made a face, but became serious. And then, he left the library in long strides.

I shrugged and looked back at the wind. I didn't want to read anything, just thinking about life was good. Or not...

[...]

It was half past two in the afternoon and I was on my way to the neighborhood square. I arranged with the staff to do the work there.

I saw two people sitting on benches at a red table. I found it strange that Erix wasn't there. I approached them and gave them a half smile.

ㅡHi, guys. Erix hasn't arrived yet?ㅡ I sat on one of the empty benches, facing the red-haired girl with brown eyes.

ㅡ It arrived, but he went to buy some drinks. ㅡ She said.

ㅡI'm sorry, but what's your name again? It's just that I don't pay attention during callsㅡI said, and made a face.

ㅡThis is Chrisㅡhe pointed to the dark-skinned boy, with curly hair and dark brown eyesㅡand I'm Diana. ㅡ She pointed at herself.

ㅡAh yes. Nice to meet you!ㅡ I smiled.

Erix approached with a tray in her hand, which contained four glasses: one of coffee and three milkshakes.

ㅡI bought you a chocolate one. ㅡHe handed the brown cup to me and the pink ones to Diana and Chris.

ㅡThank you.ㅡI thanked him and drank some. It was delicious.ㅡWell, shall we begin? This isn't something so difficult, since we only need to write what the internet affects society.ㅡI took my notebook out of my bag and put it on the table.

ㅡLet's separate it into parts, then?ㅡChris suggested. We nodded and started searching.

That afternoon was one of the best I've had. I laughed so hard that my cheeks cramped. Serious. It's been a while since I knew what it was like to laugh like that.
Diana hit Chris on the head for every mistake he made in writing or speakingㅡbecause we were practicing how we were going to presentㅡ,and it was funny the way he reacted. If those two were alone together for any length of time, I think they would both go bald from so much stress.

Every time I laughed, I noticed Erix staring at me in silence. I didn't look back at him, but every now and then I looked at him sideways.

I was finding it strange that he stared at me a lot and was always silent while doing so. When I met his eyes, I could see a certain glow. I didn't know what that was, but I hoped it was just in my head.
