CHAPTER 14

I heard the sound of horns outside when I finished getting ready. I looked out the kitchen window and saw Erix's car parked in front of my house.

ㅡI'm coming!ㅡI ran to the door and opened it.

ㅡThree minutes late.ㅡ Erix said as I got into the car. I rolled my eyes.

ㅡGood morning to you tooㅡI said and smiled forcedly.

Erix drove off and we remained silent until we arrived at the school. He seemed to be a little embarrassed by what had happened, as he didn't even look at my face.

I entered the laboratoryㅡbecause the first class was chemistryㅡ, attracting the looks of those who were already present. Erix came in soon after and sat next to me.

ㅡWhat happened?ㅡHe asked, seeing that I was looking at him with a frown.ㅡI sat here because I don't want to sit next to her.

I looked at who Erix indicated with her chin and my eyes met Zara's, who were almost piercing me with an invisible laser beam. I got closer to Erix.

ㅡAnd what's the difference?ㅡI whispered.

ㅡI feel more comfortable with you.

Her eyes met mine and, like that time, our faces were very close. Erix looked down at my lips and then analyzed my entire face.

ㅡGood morning, students.ㅡProfessor Philipe's discouraging voice made me move away, scared, from Erix.

My face was on fire and I'm sure I looked like a bell pepper. I took a deep breath and looked at Mr. Philipe, trying to hide the fact that my heart was almost coming out of my mouth.

A few seconds later, Diana entered the room and passed me, raising her lips to the side of her face and lowering her eyebrows, looking at me, making me blush even more.

ㅡ Is it true that you like someone in our class? ㅡ Diana, she asked Chris, who frowned. We were at halftime, playing truth or dare.

The reason? Mr. Philipe ordered one of the three of us to clean the laboratory, including the test tubes. And obviously, none of us wanted to, since if we broke something, we would have to pay for the disaster with our kidney.
The deal was this: whoever didn't answer the "truth" or if we didn't fulfill the "dare", would be left with the task.

It was Chris's turn to ask me:

Okay, that question took me by surprise. I didn't know what to say, and I was sure my face was starting to look like a bell pepper.

ㅡN-no.ㅡMy statement was so insecure that even I didn't believe it. I immediately spun the bottle to avoid that situation.

The bottle indicated that Diana would have to ask me:

Okay, now I was sure that they were up to something against me. And I could no longer choose the "truth", since the rule was a maximum of 5. And I had already reached the limit.

ㅡDa...dare.ㅡI wanted to cry with my choice. It was as if I had thrown myself into a sea full of hungry sharks.

ㅡI dare you to...ㅡDiana opened a huge smile.ㅡKiss Erix!

ㅡWHAT?ㅡMy despair was written all over my face. A faint would be my hope at that moment. I looked around, but luckily for me, Erix wasn't in the cafeteria. But Diana ended my short relief.

ㅡIt doesn't have to be now, when we leave we'll watch you from around the corner.ㅡThe bell rang and Diana and Chris got up and left.

Classes passed quickly, increasing my despair even more. Part of me didn't want to do this, the other part...

ㅡAre you talking to yourself now?ㅡErix's voice almost made me jump out of my seat.

The bell rang, announcing that it was time to leave. However, I stopped and only woke up when Diana and Chris approached.

ㅡCome on, Faye, it's going to be quick. It doesn't have to be a kiss.ㅡ She pulled me by the arm outside the school. Erix was a few meters ahead, which made me break out in a cold sweat. ㅡCome on.

I cleared my throat and walked towards Erix in long strides. He had his hands in his pockets and was walking distracted.

Sorry, Erix, but I need my kidney.

ㅡErix!ㅡI called him and he turned to me. I got closer to him. I gestured with my hand for him to lower himself a little so that we were at the same height.ㅡWill you excuse me?

ㅡFor what?ㅡHe raised his eyebrow.

ㅡThat's why.ㅡI pulled his neck towards me and sealed our lips.

At that moment, everything around us seemed to freeze and my stomach did several flips like the famous butterflies. I felt that Erix was in shock and I couldn't do it anymore, so I walked away. He appeared to be confused by my sudden attitude. Not knowing what to do, I just ran to escape that embarrassing situation.

When I got home, I went straight to my room, threw my backpack in the corner and buried my face in the tray.iro. My first kiss was wasted on "truth or dare". All I wanted was to disappear from planet Earth.

I opened my eyes, a little disoriented. It was dark and I was all sweaty. I turned on my cell phone and it was almost seven o'clock at night. There were messages from Diana and Chris in the group we created, but I decided to ignore them. I rubbed my eyes, got up and went straight to the bathroom to take a shower.

When I got out of it and put on my clothes, I heard the sound of someone knocking on the door. I went to it, dragging my feet, and opened it, taking a step back when I saw Erix's face.

ㅡ Hi... ㅡ I scratched the top of her head, without looking her in the eyes.

ㅡ Can we talk? ㅡ Unlike mine, her voice was firm. I nodded.

Erix didn't go in, he went to the corner of the front porch. I followed him and we remained in silence, until, after a long sigh, he decided to speak:

ㅡWhat was that?

ㅡThat what?ㅡI played dumb. It was clear he was talking about the kiss.

ㅡWhy... Why did you kiss me out of nowhere and run away?ㅡHe crossed his arms.

ㅡHm... B-because...ㅡI didn't want to clean the laboratory, I wanted to say, but the words wouldn't come out.

ㅡDo you like me?ㅡHe arched his eyebrow, an act that made him strangely attractive. I widened my eyes and swallowed hard.

ㅡWhat?ㅡI laughed, embarrassed.ㅡMe?? No!

I didn't know how to distinguish Erix's reaction, as he was just looking at me, seriously. Then, he let out a laugh that sounded mirthless.

ㅡSo you just kissed me and now you're apologizing?ㅡ Erix pulled her hair back and shook her head. And finally he walked past me and walked away.
