Tim and Lucy are sleeping after a long day on patrol. Lucy was about to fall asleep when her phone started to ring.
"Who is calling you this late?" Tim asked.
"Gray," Lucy said before answering. "Hi Gray. How can I help?"
"I need you to come in now but Tim can not come with you," he said.
"Why?" I ask.
"I will explain when you get here."
They hung up and Lucy left for the station. Tim was confused but went to sleep because Gray would not put her in danger.
When she got to the station, she went straight to Gray's office.
"The reason Tim could not come is because we have to finish the test to become a TO and I know you do better when he is not around during tests," he said as they walked to the testing room.
She finished the test and went home. She knows she won't get the scores back for a week. She is nervous because she never thought she was going to take that route. When she got home, Tim was still asleep. She got back in bed and he rolled over to cuddle her.
They woke up the next morning and Tim was relieved that Lucy was back. He was worried that she had to go undercover and he was not allowed to know where she was going.
"Good morning, beautiful," Tim said.
"Good morning," she replied back.
"Where did you go last night? I was worried about you," he said.
"I had to go finish my TO exam. Grey was waiting for the exam room to be free. He knows that I do not like to take an exam with others in the room," she replied.
"When do you get your results back? I want to have a celebration for all the hard work that you put into this."
"I will get them back next week hopefully. I feel like I did really well on it."
The next week Gray put up the results and Lucy ran up to see if she passed or not. To her surprise, her score was not on the paper. She walked to Gray's office to ask him.
"Sir, why is my grade not on the list? Did I not pass?"
"I did not put your score up there because I wanted to tell you in roll call if that is okay with you. I figured you would need the people who care about you."
She walked out the office confused. What did he mean that I needed the people who care about me around? She went straight to roll call and did not talk to anyone because she was scared about what Gray was going to say. Gray walked in with Tim at his side. I can usually tell if Gray told Tim major stuff but Tim had a straight face like he was holding back information but could not tell if it was positive or negative.
"I first want to start this briefing by sharing news about the TO exam. There were some pretty good candidates, but there was one that stood out to me. Officer Lucy Chen has passed this exam with the first ever perfect score. So Congratulations. Come on up and say a few words."
"Wow. I don't know what to say. Umm. I am speechless. I would like to thank Tim for always being by my side and dealing with me with all my stress. I would also like to say thank you to Gray for always pushing me to do my best and past my comfort zone. Let's get on with our day and have a good shift."
They finished their shifts and Tim threw a party for Lucy. She could not wait to train her first Rookie.
