Well, guys, it's officially the first day of school. Usually, this would be the worst day of the year, but since it's Salvatore School, I'm actually very excited. We have a new headmaster, so I'm kind of looking forward to that too. I'll still miss Dr. Saltzman, though. Maybe I should visit him later. In the meantime, I have to get ready for school, so I put on my uniform and make my way downstairs. It's great to see this place full again.

I spot Dorian in the library, so I approach him. And, well, that was the biggest mistake I ever made. Wanna know why? Well, guess who has to get rid of that bloody fountain Triad used to block our powers? At least I have MG and Kaleb to give me a hand with this.

"This stale blood is nasty, man. Why do we have to be the ones who have to get rid of Dr. Saltzman's creepy skull fountain?" MG complains, and I couldn't agree more.

"Just breathe through your nose," Kaleb advises, trying to keep us focused.

"I think I'm gonna be sick," I admit, feeling queasy.

I definitely need to take a shower after this.

"So, Y/n... can I ask your opinion on something?" MG hesitantly begins.

"Yeah, sure, mate," I reply, curious about what he has to say.

"Well, it's actually... you know, it's about..." MG struggles to find the right words, indicating that this must be pretty important. Eventually, Kaleb sighs and takes over.

"MG plans to make a move on Lizzie, and we could use your advice since you two are friends," Kaleb explains.

"Finally. It's about time, dude," I remark, genuinely pleased for MG.

"Wait, you knew I have a crush on Lizzie?" MG asks, surprised.

"Doesn't everyone know this? Penelope told me. Anyway, I think it's great you want to ask her out," I reassure him.

"Maybe I could ask her on a study date or something," MG suggests tentatively.

"Yeah, the old mill," Kaleb chimes in.

"Why there?" MG asks, confused, and honestly, so am I.

"Are you two for real? You've never heard of 'old mill and chill'?"

We shake our heads, and he continues, "Look, if you ask her on a study date there, I promise you, she'll know what's up. I'm surprised you didn't know that. Didn't you pull that move on Josie?"

I furrow my brow, feeling even more confused. "What do you mean?" I ask.

They roll their eyes as if it's the most obvious thing. "Come on, everyone knows about you and Josie," MG says matter-of-factly.

"What about me and Josie?" I inquire, my confusion growing.

"You know, that you're dating," Kaleb interjects.

Either I've gone crazy because of the smell of this fountain, or they really just said that Josie and I are dating. "Me and Josie aren't dating," I insist, feeling a bit flustered.

"So, it was just a summer thing," MG concludes, and somehow, that sounds even worse.

"No, of course not. I mean, nothing ever happened between us," I clarify, feeling a knot form in my stomach.

"Yeah, right. You just spent a romantic summer together," Kaleb says, rolling his eyes.

"How do you two even know I spent the summer with her? You weren't even here," I point out, perplexed.

"People like to gossip here. Everyone just assumed you two are dating," MG explains.

"I think I'm gonna be sick," I mutter, feeling overwhelmed.
