After chatting with Hope in the woods, we decided to call it a night and head home. It was actually very late, and after everything that happened today, we both needed some rest.

We talked a bit about our lives, getting to know each other. Of course, she knows about my parents' death and me and Sam moving here from England.

I told her that my mom was actually from New Orleans, and apparently, that's where Hope's family lives, and it's also where she was born and raised. I kinda wonder if my family and Hope's family knew each other, but I doubt it. It's a big city, after all.

Also, we both share the same interest in art, and I remembered Caroline mentioning it when she visited us.

Hope told me she got this love for art from her father, but tragically, Hope's parents and uncle passed away a few years back. I can tell she's been through a lot, and she really misses her family from New Orleans. From what she said, they don't visit a lot.

I arrive home, and I don't see Sam, so I assume he's asleep. I go to my room and change into some shorts and a white tank top. I text Hope, letting her know I'm home and safe. Yeah, she gave me her number "in case I get lost in the woods," as she put it.

But hey, at least I got her number. After a minute, she texts me back, saying she just got back to the Salvatore School too.

I lay down on my bed, staring at the ceiling. Today was quite a rollercoaster, from the game to the unexpected talk with Hope.

I'm still not sure what's going on with Sam, but maybe we'll figure it out eventually. I close my eyes, hoping for a peaceful sleep, and before I know it, I drift off into dreams.

I wake up due to my phone blowing up with messages. I look at the clock on my nightstand and see it's eleven am. I groan and decide to see who's texting me like a mad person. I check, and it's Josie. I'm too lazy to text her, so I just call her.

"What?"

"Y/N, why aren't you responding to my texts?"

"Have you ever heard about sleeping?"

"Y/N, it's almost twelve pm. You said you'll come and keep me company this morning."

"I did?" Oh, shit, I did. I forgot I promised Josie I'd meet her today.

"Y/N, I just had a fight with Lizzie, and if you don't show up here in the next fifteen minutes, I'll kill you."

I can practically hear the frustration and desperation in Josie's voice. "Alright, alright, I'm getting up. I'll be there as fast as I can."

I quickly get out of bed, trying to shake off the sleepiness that's still clinging to me. After a quick shower and getting dressed, I grab my phone and my keys and head out the door.

I finally arrive and see the students from Salvatore School doing their community service duty. Of course, there are the Mystic Falls High students making fun of them. Jerks.

It takes me a few minutes, but I spot Josie and Hope picking up trash with those poking sticks. I start walking closer to them, and I see Hope poking her foot. I quicken my pace and reach them just as Josie is pulling out the stick from Hope's leg.

"Oh my god, Hope, are you okay? Does it hurt? Can you stand?"

"Y/N, didn't see you there. Yeah, I'm fine, don't worry."

I give her an unconvinced look, and I see her and Josie exchanging glances.

"You can't be fine. I saw you poking yourself, and Josie pulled the stick out."
