Ryoko's POV

The scene shifts, and suddenly I find myself transported back three years ago, to a time when life was simpler, and the weight of the world had yet to bear down on my shoulders.

It was my during my junior high school years, the first year.

It was lunch break, I walked through the bustling halls of the school, chatting with my friends Ayane and Momo, little did I know that our my life was about to take an unexpected turn.

"Girls, I've decided to tag you into a mixer," Ayane declared suddenly, breaking the casual conversation with a surprising announcement.

I frowned, caught off guard by her words. "A mixer?" I repeated.

Momo blushed, her eyes widening in surprise. "W-what for?" she stammered, clearly flustered by the unexpected invitation.

"Don't you want to get a boyfriend before the others?" Ayane asked playfully, a mischievous glint in her eye as she teased us.

I shook my head nonchalantly. "No thanks, I'm good," I rejected the idea outright.

"Well, I am, so we're going!" Ayane replied darkly, as she made her decision clear. I sweatdropped, realizing that arguing with Ayane was futile.

With a resigned sigh, I nodded in agreement. "Ugh! Fine..." I muttered, resigning myself to whatever fate awaited us at the mixer.

Day of the Mixer~~~

As Ayane, Momo, and I entered the crowded room of the Karaoke, I immediately sensed Marito's presence from across the room.

'Wow... a date with the deliquests of our school.'

Ayane, ever the instigator, spotted Marito as well and whispered, "There he is, Ryoko. Your favorite person."

I shot her a glare but said nothing, my focus shifting to avoiding any interaction with Marito if possible.

The music was loud, but the tension between Marito and me felt even louder as we locked eyes across the room. His expression was icy, filled with a mix of disdain and annoyance.

"We should go," I muttered to Ayane and Momo, hoping to make a quick exit before Marito could approach us. "You know we don't get along."

The First and The Last in school.

But Ayane had other plans. "Oh no, we're not leaving until you two sort this out," she insisted, grabbing my arm and dragging me closer to Marito against my will.

"No, NO NO no..." I silently whispered. As we approached, Marito's gaze narrowed, and I could practically feel the heat of his animosity radiating towards me.

"Great, just what I needed," I muttered under my breath, my nerves frayed as we finally stood face to face.

Marito didn't bother with pleasantries, cutting straight to the chase. "What are you doing here?" he demanded, his voice laced with contempt and I smiled.

'This bitch!! Even though I was planning on not fighting today.'

"I could ask you the same thing," I shot back. Ayane and Momo exchanged nervous glances, clearly regretting their decision to intervene.

"Why don't you just leave me alone?" Marito snapped, his frustration boiling over as he took a step closer, invading my personal space.

"I would if I could," I retorted, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

The intensity of our confrontation seemed to draw the attention of those around us, but neither Marito nor I cared about the audience we had unwittingly attracted.
